  • Gap’s November same-store sales up 2%

    San Francisco -- Gap Inc. reported its November 2013 net sales increased 8% compared with last year. Same-store sales for the period rose 2%.

    Net sales for the four-week period ended November 30, 2013 were $1.63 billion, compared with net sales of $1.52 billion for the four-week period ended November 24, 2012.

  • Cabela’s to open new store in Kentucky in fall 2014

    Sidney, Neb. – Cabela’s plans to open a 42,000-sq.-ft. Cabela’s Outpost store in Bowling Green, Ky. The store will be Cabela’s second in Kentucky, joining the Louisville location, and is scheduled to open in the fall of 2014.

  • Kroger still sizzling in third quarter

    Kroger has extended its streak of consecutive same-store sales growth to 40 quarters — an impressive feat in light of the slow economic recovery.
     
    The company reported a same-store supermarket sales increase of 3.5%, excluding fuel, for the third quarter.

    "The resiliency of our Customer First strategy … was on full display during the quarter, even as our internal research shows that customers remain uncertain about the economy," Dave Dillon, Kroger chairman and CEO said.

  • Dallas retailers pilot mobile checkout app

    Dallas – Fifteen Dallas-area retailers are pilot testing Cartwheel Register, a free mobile checkout app that provides an intuitive and secure store system while creating a next-generation shopping experience for customers. Retailers in the pilot include gift shops, cafes, clothing boutiques, bakeries, caterers, food trucks and salons throughout the city and surrounding areas. Each business will use Cartwheel Register to perform credit, debit, cash and Skip Wallet transactions.

  • Wet Seal flat in Q3

    Foothill Ranch, Calif. -- Wet Seal recorded a loss of $14.9 million for the fiscal 2013 third quarter, essentially flat with last year.

    Sales dipped to $127.7 million from $135.5 million, and same-store edged up 0.8%, including an increase of 1.7% at Wet Seal and a decrease of 6.7% at Arden B.

  • Walgreens comps climb

    This year's November had one additional Saturday and one fewer Thursday compared with November 2012. Despite these calendar shifts, Walgreens still saw comparable store sales climb for the month.

    The company reported November sales of $6.1 billion, an increase of 4.1% compared to the same month last year. Total front-end sales increased 3.2%, while comparable store front-end sales increased 1.9%. Customer traffic in comparable stores increased 0.8% and basket size increased 1.1%.

  • Aeropostale swings to big loss in Q3

    New York -- Aeropostale reported a loss of $25.6 million for its fiscal third quarter, compared to a profit of $25 million in the same period last year.

    Sales dropped 15% to $514.6 million, from $605.9 million in the year-ago period. Same-store sales also decreased 15%.

  • Direct Wines deploys solutions from Predictix

    Atlanta -- Direct Wines, the world’s largest online wine retailer, has successfully deployed advanced, end-to-end planning, promotion, forecasting and fulfillment solutions from Predictix, a provider of cloud-based, predictive analytics solutions for retailers. The applications went live last month and will support the current operation and future growth strategy of Direct Wines' international, omni-channel business.
