  • Crutchfield adopts new in-store pricing solution

    Charlottesville, Va. – Crutchfield Corp. has adopted the new integrated 360pi-Displaydata solution to realize in-store dynamic pricing. 360pi is working with Displaydata to incorporate Electronic Shelf Labeling (ESL) to give physical stores the ability to employ dynamic pricing.

    The new solution is designed to provide retailers with the ability to automate and increase the frequency of in-store price updates without the cost, time, effort and error associated with manual price changes

  • New tenants for Knoxville’s University Commons

    Knoxville, Tenn. — Four new retailers have signed leases with University Commons, a new retail center adjacent to the University of Tennessee campus in Knoxville, Tenn. The property’s developer, CHM, made the announcement.

    The newly signed retailers are Fresh To Order, a fast-fine restaurant concept; Blush Boutique, an affordable-fashion concept; Great Clips, the chain’s twentieth Knoxville-area shop; and Jersey Mike’s, the fast casual submarine sandwich franchise.

  • Whirlpool reaffirms full-year guidance

    Whirlpool Corporation reaffirmed its full-year guidance following first quarter results.

    Net sales in the quarter were $4.4 billion compared to $4.2 billion during the same prior-year period. Excluding the impact of foreign currency in addition to Brazilian (BEFIEX) tax credits, sales increased approximately 6%.

  • Applebee’s acquires pad in Richardson, Texas

    Dallas — Applebee’s has purchased a one-acre pad in Richardson, Texas, from Leon Capital Group. Venture Commercial Real Estate represented Applebee’s in the transaction.

    Venture Commercial’s full-service real estate platform includes landlord and tenant representation, property management, land sales, disposition and income property sales. As the D-FW partner of X Team International, Venture is able to serve its clients on a national scale.

     

  • Report: Retailers miss mobile push opportunity

    San Francisco - Although 77% of top online retailers have published a mobile app and 62% of them prompt users to opt into push notifications, many of them are missing a significant opportunity to perform push communications. According to new data from mobile analytics provider Other Levels, only 31% of the top 100 online retailers actually sent a message through push notification.

    However, Other Levels data shows that 70% of consumers are open to receiving mobile push notifications. Additional findings include:

  • Restoration Hardware names former Limited Brands exec to board

    Corte Madera, Calif. -- Restoration Hardware Holdings Inc. has named Dr. Leonard Schlesinger to its board of directors. He will also serve as the chairman of the board’s compensation committee.

    Schlesinger has held executive leadership positions at various retail and consumer brands, including vice chairman and COO of Limited Brands from 1999 to 2007, and has served for more than 20 years as a professor of business administration at Harvard Business School, and previously served as the president of Babson College.

    Ale or Lager? Stout? Lambic? Pilsner? These are the questions candy makers at Jelly Belly Candy Company asked themselves before creating what they say is the world’s first beer flavored jelly bean.

    In the end, the company opted to pay homage to its German ancestry with a Hefeweizen-inspired ale flavor, and Draft Beer Jelly Belly jelly beans took shape. The new flavor is now available in bulk and a single-flavor 3.5-oz Grab & Go bag.


  • DSGE shuts down Southern Bullion

    Dallas - DGSE Companies Inc. has closed all locations in its Southern Bullion Coin and Jewelry division. As previously disclosed, six Southern Bullion locations were closed in February, and subsequently, four additional locations were closed in early April, and the final 13 locations were closed on or about April 21, 2014.
