  • Overstock.com bolsters merchandising leadership

    Overstock.com promoted Seth Marks to SVP of merchandising and strategic sourcing. The promotion was in conjunction with the online shopping site’s first-quarter results for the period ended March 31.

    Marks has been with the company since 2013, serving as VP of sales and special acquisitions.

    "Seth brings a wealth of experience to this position from his previous work in liquidation and retail channel markets. He continually makes great contributions in securing the best deals for our customers," CEO Patrick M. Byrne said.

  • Nordstrom Rack plans 2015 store opening in Albuquerque

    Seattle – Nordstrom Inc. plans to open a Nordstrom Rack at Winrock Town Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The approximately 33,500-sq.-ft. store is scheduled to open in fall 2015.

    The new Nordstrom Rack will be the company's first retail location in New Mexico.

  • EBay Enterprise releases ship-from-store freight solution

    King of Prussia, Pa. - eBay Enterprise is releasing a new offering for clients using its Ship-From-Store solution. The new solution leverages EBay Enterprise’s solutions with freight companies to provide its Ship-From-Store clients with discounted shipping rates, free or discounted branded packing supplies and rebates for high-volume orders that they would not be able to obtain on their own.

  • Tractor Supply Co. posts strong Q1; on track to open 100+ stores this year

    Brentwood, Tenn. -- Tractor Supply Co. reported an 11% rise in profit for the quarter ended March 29, to $48.8 million from $44 million last year.

    Revenue rose 9% to $1.18 billion, and same-store sales increased 2.2% versus a 0.5% increase in the prior year period.

    For the full year, the company said it expects capital expenditures to range between $240 million and $250 million, including spending to support 102 to 106 new store openings and construction of the new Store Support Center to open in 2014.

  • Dunkin' Brands posts tough Q1; on track for 800 openings worldwide in 2014

    Canton, Mass. -- Dunkin’ Brands Group, parent to Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins, said its banners were impacted by tough weather in the first quarter, with U.S. comparable store sales growth of just 1.2%. Net income for the quarter dipped 3.5% from $23.8 million to $23 million. Revenue rose 6.2%.
