  • Wolverine Worldwide appoints SVP of global human resources

    Wolverine Worldwide has appointed Melissa A. Howell SVP of global human resources. Howell will report directly to chairman, CEO and president Blake Krueger.

    Howell has more than 24 years of experience in human resource management with General Motors, one of the world's largest automobile companies, with more than 200,000 employees in more than 150 countries. Howell most recently served as SVP of global human resources and also held numerous other human resource leadership roles during her time with the company.  

  • Square and Epicor lead mobile POS software rankings, according to IHL Group

    Franklin, Tenn. -- Software companies Square and Epicor lead the fast growing Mobile POS software market in North America according to new research from IHL Group, a global retail research and advisory firm.  

    Mobile POS installs are expected to grow by 110% this year as more retailers replace electronic cash registers and POS terminals with mobile devices.

    New York -- Cautious spending and economic realities that are bifurcating the American holiday shopper into two distinct segments are two of the 10 trends that are expected to drive the 2014 holiday shopping season, according to a new report from PwC US and Strategy.

  • Burlington Stores stockholders to offer 8 million shares for sale

    Burlington, N.J. - Affiliates of Bain Capital Partners LLC and certain other stockholders of Burlington Stores Inc. intend to offer eight million shares of the company’s common stock in an underwritten public offering. The offering consists entirely of secondary shares to be sold by the selling stockholders.

    Burlington Stores will not sell any shares in the offering and will not receive any proceeds from the offering. J.P. Morgan is acting as sole book-running manager for the offering.

    Continued softness in mall traffic and lower-than-expected sales from its September fashion show have prompted Christopher & Banks to cut its sales forecast for the third quarter of fiscal 2014.

  • Starmount donates laptops for Retail ROI computer lab

    Austin, Texas - Starmount has donated laptop computers to Retail ROI to help equip a computer lab at the Hogar de Niños Tía Tatiana School, an inner-city school in Herrera that’s located in an impoverished area in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The laptops will be used to help replace outdated computers at the school, which serves more than 500 children.

  • Ann Inc. expands Loft into Mexico

    New York – Ann Inc. is opening its first Loft store in Mexico, continuing the company's international expansion. The store is located in the Antea Lifestyle Center in Queretaro, with additional locations planned for later this year in Mexico City's Parque Toreo Mall and Puebla's Angelopolis Mall.

    Ann Inc. is working with its franchise partner Grupo Axo to establish its retail presence in Mexico.

  • Johnny Rockets signs retail distribution agreement

    Aliso Viejo, Calif. - Johnny Rockets has reached its first agreement to distribute private label menu items for home consumption. Blackwood Industries, Inc., based in Orlando, Florida, has been selected to distribute branded hamburger patties and other related products via retail, as of Oct. 1, 2015.  

    This comes on the heels of a recent Johnny Rockets announcement to launch Johnny Rockets Route 66 and Johnny Rockets Express restaurant banners.
