Starmount donates laptops for Retail ROI computer lab

10/7/2014

Austin, Texas - Starmount has donated laptop computers to Retail ROI to help equip a computer lab at the Hogar de Niños Tía Tatiana School, an inner-city school in Herrera that’s located in an impoverished area in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The laptops will be used to help replace outdated computers at the school, which serves more than 500 children.

The school’s computer lab provides kids with training in computer skills as well as various computer programming languages. RetailROI brings together retailers, analysts, technology vendors and many others to raise awareness and help provide solutions for orphaned and at-risk children around the globe.

Starmount is honored to partner with RetailROI on this initiative,” said Joe Halloum, CEO, Starmount. “The Hogar de Niños Tía Tatiana School provides kids with a safe haven and a chance for a better life. This donation can help create a better learning environment and help provide much-needed job skills. We look forward to continuing to support RetailROI in its mission.”

Since its founding six years ago, RetailROI has helped more than 110,000 orphaned and vulnerable children through education, computers, food and medical care. More than 94% of the funds have been used in direct support of charities that provide hands-on relief around the world for orphan care, adoption relief, foster care support, and to rescue children from human trafficking.

“Retail is the perfect vehicle for driving awareness and providing real solutions for vulnerable children around the world,” said Greg Buzek, donor trustee, RetailROI. “We appreciate Starmount’s support, and look forward to putting these laptops in the hands of the kids and their teachers.”
