  • Report: Amazon plans online market for handmade goods

    Seattle – Amazon.com is reportedly preparing an online marketplace for handmade goods that will appropriately enough be known as “Handmade.” According to the Wall Street Journal, Amazon has been sending targeted emails to Etsy sellers inviting them to sell their wares on Handmade.

    The invites do not specify when Handmade will launch or what type of fees sellers will be charged. Etsy sellers are being asked what category of goods they make, such as apparel and baby, and can also select subcategories such as jewelry and home.

  • Survey: Chick-fil-A nabs second place in customer service

    Waban, Mass. - Chick-fil-A took the second spot in the annual Temkin Customer Service Ratings, tops among all retailers and food service chains. Other retailers and food service companies in the top 12 include Aldi, Trader Joe's, Publix, Panera Bread, H-E-B, Amazon.com, and Bed Bath & Beyond.

    Supermarkets, retailers, and banks, as an industry, earned average ratings of "strong.” Retailers RadioShack and Sears were ranked at least 15 points below retail industry average.

  • Report: Amazon's 'Handmade' targets Etsy market

    Amazon is reportedly looking to launch an artisanal-goods marketplace called Handmade, according to The Wall Street Journal.

    The newspaper obtained invites that Amazon has sent to sellers at Etsy. Neither Amazon nor Etsy has agreed to comment on the Journal report.

  • Nordstrom makes deal with TD Bank

    Nordstrom is looking to increase its capital efficiency by selling its credit card portfolio to a Canadian bank.

    Nordstrom and Toronto-based TD Bank Group announced an agreement under which TD will acquire Nordstrom's existing U.S. Visa and private label consumer credit card portfolio, which currently totals about $2.2 billion in receivables. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

  • Gander Mountain opens a second store in St. Louis metro area

    O'Fallon, Ill. -- Gander Mountain will open a store in O'Fallon, Illinois, on May 28.

    The new 61,000-sq.-ft. Gander Mountain store features an exterior and interior layout that reflect its new store design, featuring innovative interior elements, displays and fixtures.

    "We are excited to open our second Gander Mountain location in the St. Louis Metro and provide the countless outdoors enthusiasts with the gear they need," said Gander Mountain president and COO Mike Owens.
