    Oak Brook, Ill. — McDonald's is letting customers really have it their way. The fast-food giant has launched an expansion of its "Create Your Taste" program to a new location in San Francisco. The customized burger building system that allows customers to order from a tablet-like kiosk where they can customize everything from choice of buns and cheese to toppings and sauces.

  • T.J.Maxx seeks budding artistes

    T.J.Maxx has come up with a creative way to encourage shoppers to support children in need.

    The retailer is launching the "Maxx Kids Art Contest" to support organizations that help children in need reach their full potential, such as Save the Children. Winning artwork will appear on future products sold in T.J.Maxx stores that will benefit children in need. In addition, all winners will receive a $250 savings bond.

    New York — The Home Depot is focused on making goods flow more smoothly.

    In fact, the company’s common order management system, or COM, has been called the largest IT project in the history of the Atlanta-based retail giant. And during the recent Goldman Sachs Annual dotCommerce Day presentation, Kevin Hofmann, Home Depot’s senior VP and president –online, explained to investors how the retailer intends to flex its order management muscle.
     

  • Staples/Office Depot deal awaits FTC action

    Office Depot shareholders approved of the company’s acquisition by Staples in a vote that will prove to be largely symbolic if federal regulators determine a deal involving two direct competitors is not in the best interest of consumers.

    Office Depot agreed to be acquired by Staples on Feb. 4 and on June 19 a preliminary vote total showed that 99.5% of shareholders approved of a deal that involves them receiving $7.25 in cash and 0.2188 of Staples stock for each share of Office Depot stock.

  • CBL acquires mixed-use center in Chattanooga

    WILMINGTON, N.C. — The Mayfaire Town Center and Mayfaire Community Center have been acquired by CBL & Associates Properties, a publicly traded real estate investment trust based in Chattanooga, Tenn.

    The sale, which closed June 18, is not expected to result in immediate changes that will be noticed by consumers.

    Once a horse farm, Mayfaire Town Center and Mayfaire Community Center have become one of North Carolina's premier shopping and leisure destinations.

  • Combatant Gentlemen going after wedding business with The Groom's Suite

    Irvine, Calif. — Online menswear retailer Combatant Gentlemen Inc. is seeking to expand one of the fastest-growing segments of its business.

    The company has launched The Groom's Suite, an online dashboad offering suits starting at $160 and tuxes starting at $200, to attract budget-conscious brides and grooms who prefer to buy rather than rent.

  • Twin Peaks prepares mobile payment, loyalty app

    Dallas – Casual dining chain Twin Peaks is partnering with MyCheck,mobile payment technology platform, to release its first branded mobile payment app in Augustc 2015.

    The new Twin Peaks mobile app will allow customers to view, split and pay their bill from their phone using Apple Pay, PayPal, Google Wallet, debit or credit cards; order additional menu items, and have access to exclusive rewards and special offers only redeemable in the app.
