  • Toys ‘R’ Us to make more than 40,000 holiday hires

    Wayne, N.J. -- Toys “R” Us said Thursday that it will hire more than 40,000 employees to staff its U.S. stores and distribution centers this holiday season. In addition, employment opportunities will be available at the company’s 10 distribution centers, including the newest facility in McCarran, Nev.

    Toys “R” Us’ 2011 holiday hires are in line with previous years, when the company hired between 35,000 and 45,000 seasonal workers.

  • SRS Real Estate announces new hire

    Dallas -- SRS Real Estate Partners said it has hired Andrew Cornwell as a research analyst in the Austin/San Antonio office.

    Prior to this role, Cornwell was an intern for SRS where he focused on research while working closely with the investment sales team.

  • Rose Paving Co. completes parking lot improvements for 7-Eleven

    Bridgeview, Ill. -- Rose Paving Co. has completed a major parking feet enhancement program at 7-Eleven locations in the northeastern United States. The project, which involved 970,463 sq. ft. of space, spanned the course of five weeks. Work ranged from two-inch mill and overlay to full parking lot reconstruction at more than 75 7-Eleven stores in Maryland, New Jersey, and Virginia -- all while stores remained open.

  • Citi Trends to open two Pa., locations

    New York City -- Centro Properties Group US announced the recent lease executions of two Citi Trends locations. A 13,500-sq.-ft. lease has been executed at Lehigh Shopping Center, in Bethlehem, Pa., and a 12,000-sq.-ft. location will open at Kline Plaza, located in Harrisburg, Pa.

    Both Lehigh Shopping Center and Kline Plaza are owned by Centro Properties, based in New York City.
     

  • Gold’s Gym Express to debut in Victoria, Texas

    Houston -- Baker Katz, an X Team International partner and full-service commercial real estate brokerage firm, announced that it has completed a lease for the first Gold’s Gym Express in Victoria, Texas.

    Located in the Northcross Shopping Center, Gold’s Gym Express is occupying 18,710 sq. ft. of the former H-E-B Grocery space, and joins Ashley’s Furniture HomeStore, Jason’s Deli, Dollar Tree and GameStop.

  • Gordman's store operations get boost from seasoned exec

    OMAHA, Neb. — Long-time retail executive Andy Lundquist has joined apparel and home fashions discounter Gordman's as VP stores.

    Lundquist has more than 20 years of retail management experience, most recently as SVP stores for Kohl's where he oversaw 270 stores in 21 states. In contrast, Gordman's operates 73 stores mostly concentrated in the Midwest.  

    Lundquist was instrumental in growing Kohl's into one of the largest department store chains in the country.

  • Family Dollar gets in-store learning experience

    Winston-Salem, N.C. — Family Dollar Stores has found itself a way to better understand how customers respond to its in-store displays and promotions, and how they can be improved to generate more sales. The discount retailer has engaged RockTenn, manufacturer of consumer packaging solutions and BVI Networks, a provider of real-time in-store monitoring, to open the first large format "ShopperGauge" branded retail learning lab at Family Dollar Stores.

  • Sutton announces new hire

    Syracuse, N.Y. -- Sutton Real Estate Co. announced that Larry J. Socia, has joined the company as retail director.

    Socia’s focus will be expanding the client representation business, seeking new business opportunities and overseeing existing retail real estate services.

    Socia was previously retail division director for the Cushman & Wakefield Strategic Alliance Partner in Upstate New York.
