11/7/2011

New York City -- Brixmor Property Group said Friday that four national tenants – Books-A-Million, Big Lots, Dick’s Sporting Goods and REI – will occupy former Borders locations in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Michigan and North Carolina.

“The departure of Borders opened the door for a number of our existing retailers to open more stores within the Brixmor portfolio,” said Timothy J. Bruce, executive VP, leasing and redevelopment, Brixmor Property Group, New York City. “Additionally, we are pleased to announce Brixmor’s first lease has been signed with outdoor specialist retailer REI, which is taking a 27,000-sq.-ft. former Borders location in Cary, N.C.”

Dick’s will open in a former Borders location at Esplanade Shopping Center, in Oxnard, Calif.; Big Lots will open at Arapahoe Crossings in Aurora, Colo.; Books‐A‐Million will open at Waterford Commons in Waterford, Conn., and at Grand Traverse Crossing, in Traverse City, Mich.; and REI will open at Devonshire Place, in Cary.
