  • Sports Authority to open in former Mervyn’s space

    Santa Fe, N.M. -- Fort Worth, Texas-based Trademark Property Co. said that Sports Authority will open a new store at Santa Fe Place mall in Santa Fe, N.M.

    The 40,000-sq.-ft. store will open in a vacated Mervyn’s anchor space at the center. Construction is slated to launch in October with opening planned for spring 2013. It will be the second Sports Authority in New Mexico; the other store is located in Albuquerque.

  • Marcus & Millichap names senior associate

    Austin, Texas -- Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services announced that Michael Buckner has rejoined the firm as a senior associate in the Austin office.

    Buckner originally joined Marcus & Millichap in October 2003 as an agent specializing in retail property sales. In December 2004, he was promoted to associate and in 2006 he received a Sales Recognition Award from the firm.

  • Starbucks names broker for sites in Northern New Jersey

    Garden City, N.Y. -- Starbucks Coffee Co. has appointed Sabre Real Estate Group LLC as its exclusive broker for northern New Jersey.

    Sabre’s Scott Sher and Russel Helbling will spearhead the cafe chain’s site search in Bergen, Passaic, Essex, Union and Hudson Counties, where the chain currently has 52 locations.

  • Big Lots opens anchor store in Stone Mountain, Ga.

    Tarrytown, N.Y. -- DLC Management Corp., which owns Stone Mountain Square in Stone Mountain, Ga., said Friday that Big Lots has opened a 26,355-sq.-ft. store at the shopping center.

    Big Lots co-anchors the center with Ross Dress for Less, T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, Dot’s and Anna’s Linens.
     

  • U-Swirl franchisee signs first of 10 locations in Houston

    Henderson, Nev. -- Frozen yogurt purveyor U-Swirl said Thursday that its area developer for the Houston market has signed a lease for its first of a 10-miminum store commitment to be opened over the next 48 months.

    Houston is the fifteenth area in 13 states where U-Swirl is currently developing locations. It currently has 29 yogurt cafes open and operating.

     

  • Dick's Sporting Goods to open two new stores on June 13

    Pittsburgh -- Dick's Sporting Goods announced Monday it will open two new stores on June 13.

    A store at Bloomfield Town Square, in Bloomfield, Mich., will be the sporting goods retailer’s 20th store in the state.

    The new store opening at Northborough Crossing, in Northborough, Mass., will be the retailer’s 17th in the state.
     

  • Tommy Bahama announces senior management appointees

    Seattle -- Tommy Bahama Group said Wednesday that Joel Gardner has been promoted to senior VP retail, and Bornie Del Priore has been named VP of Tommy Bahama Footwear, a new division for the company.

    Gardner has been with Tommy Bahama since 2006, most recently as VP retail planning and merchandising. Before joining Tommy Bahama, he was VP retail at The Orvis Co.

    Del Priore has spent the last four years at Tommy Hilfiger USA, most recently as executive VP accessories. She also spent 15 years at Ralph Lauren Footwear.

  • Simon Property Group acquires 50% ownership of Florida outlet center

    Indianapolis -- Simon Property Group announced that it has acquired 50% of Silver Sands Factory Stores, an outlet shopping destination located in Destin, Florida. Howard Group, developer of the center, will remain 50% owner of the center. Simon will assume primary responsibility of leasing and management duties.

    The 465,000-sq.-ft. Silver Sands center is home to over 100 stores including Ann Taylor Factory Store, Coach, Cole Haan, J.Crew, Kenneth Cole, Michael Kors, Nike and Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th.
