Sports Authority to open in former Mervyn’s space
Santa Fe, N.M. -- Fort Worth, Texas-based Trademark Property Co. said that Sports Authority will open a new store at Santa Fe Place mall in Santa Fe, N.M.
The 40,000-sq.-ft. store will open in a vacated Mervyn’s anchor space at the center. Construction is slated to launch in October with opening planned for spring 2013. It will be the second Sports Authority in New Mexico; the other store is located in Albuquerque.
Trademark has been directing the remerchandising and redevelopment of the 571,238-sq.-ft. Santa Fe Place, Northern New Mexico’s only regional mall, since the mall was acquired by a private equity fund.
“The transformation of this mall continues to move in the right direction,” said Trademark CEO Terry Montesi. “The first step was to stabilize the mall by adding an attractive new anchor to join Dillard’s, J.C. Penney and Sears, and Sports Authority fits the bill perfectly.”
