  • Build-A-Bear Workshop names American Eagle executive as COO

    St. Louis – Build-A-Bear Workshop Inc. has named Chris Hurt as COO. Hurt has more than 20 years of retail experience in senior leadership roles and most recently held the position of senior VP of North America at American Eagle Outfitters Inc.

    Hurt will lead the Build-A-Bear Workshop retail and operations teams to drive sales and profits, while promoting ongoing growth for the business. He will oversee all business operations, including the corporate strategy and structure for stores. He will report to Sharon Price John, CEO.

  • CBRE names first VP of retail leasing

    Phoenix -- CBRE has announced that LeDonna Spongberg, a retail leasing professional, has joined the company’s Phoenix office as a first VP.

  • Stuart Weitzman names president, global retail

    New York -- Stuart Weitzman Holdings announced that Alyssa Mishcon has joined as president, global retail. Mishcon will oversee all aspects of the global retail business including customer experience and relationship management, strategic operations development, merchandising and international retail growth.

    Mishcon brings more than 15 years of experience in luxury brands, working most recently as president of Thomas Pink Inc., LVMH Fashion Group and then previously VP strategy, merchandising & retail at TAG Heuer, LVHM Watch & Jewelry Division.

  • Lockridge named president of Atlas Technology Group

    Atlas Technology Group, one of the fastest growing retail technology solution providers in the consumer goods industry, has named a new president.

    Pat Lockridge, who has been SVP of sales at Atlas since 2013, has been promoted to president. Nicholas Dozier will remain CEO of ATLAS Technology Group, which is based in Bentonville, Ark.

  • CBL and Horizon start expansion of Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass

    Chattanooga, Tenn. -- CBL & Associates Properties and Horizon Group Properties have begun construction on the second phase of The Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass, near Louisville, Kentucky.

    The 53,400-sq.-ft. expansion is scheduled to open this November and will bring eight more retailers to the center including H&M, Abercrombie & Fitch, The Limited Outlet, and Johnny Rockets. The outlet shopping center, located off Interstate 64 between Louisville and Lexington, opened July 31, 2014.

  • RadioShack survives bankruptcy with 1,743 stores

    Fort Worth, Texas – In what may be a tale of survival to rival the PT 109 ordeal of John F. Kennedy, RadioShack Corp. will exit Chapter 11 bankruptcy with some 1,700 stores intact.  

    A bankruptcy judge on Tuesday approved the sale of 1,743 RadioShack stores to hedge fund Standard General, preserving some 7,500 jobs, the Wall Street Journal reported. Standard General intends to operate most of the preserved RadioShack stores in an alliance with Sprint Corp.

  • Alibaba names online marketing president

    Hong Kong – Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. has appointed Yu Yongfu as president of the company’s online marketing unit, Alimama, to spearhead the business into new areas of growth. Yongfu joined Alibaba Group in June 2014 to lead the company’s mobile business unit.

    Prior to joining Alibaba Group, Yongfu was chief executive of Chinese mobile browser company UCWeb. UCWeb was acquired by Alibaba Group in June 2014. Yongfu will begin his new position today and will report to Daniel Zhang, Alibaba Group’s COO.

  • Maxwell joins Orchestro in key role

    Former Walmart executive Gary Maxwell has joined leading demand analytics provider Orchestro as the firm’s chief solutions officer.

    Maxwell, a long-time member of Orchestro’s advisory board, retired from Walmart in 2013 after holding a variety of senior supply chain, replenishment and process improvement roles during a 14 year career. Prior to Walmart, Maxwell spent five years in a senior supply chain role with the now defunct Caldor chain.
