  • GNC exploring options — including sale

    GNC Holdings Inc. announced Monday it is undertaking a strategic review whose options could include a sale of the company.

    The health-and-wellness retailer said it is also considering accelerated refranchising strategies, partnerships and other collaborations, and capital structure optimization. The announcement comes on the heels of disappointing first quarter results.

  • Wing concept taking flight with Buxton site solution

    East Coast Wings & Grill’s ambitious growth plans are poised to benefit from a data-driven approach to site selection made possible by the Buxton Analytics Platform.

    The casual dining chain currently has 31 locations and has signed agreements to add 80 new restaurants across the country within the next five years. To ensure those restaurants are in the optimal locations, East Coast Wings & Grill partnered with customer analytics firm Buxton.

  • Nordstrom vet to join The Finish Line

    The Finish Line said that John Hall will join the company in mid-May as executive VP, divisional president and chief merchandising officer.

    Hall, a 30-year Nordstrom executive, most recently served as VP, corporate merchandiser of Rack Menswear.

    At Finish Line, Hall’s focus will span across consumer engagement touchpoints including stores and digital operations, merchandising and strategies involving the company’s product vision. He will drive the retailer’s brand growth strategies.

  • Supervalu names innovation head as part of executive shuffle

    Supervalu is adding a veteran wholesale executive to a new C-level position and also enacting several other changes to its senior leadership team.

    James Weidenheimer, 57, has been named to the newly-created position of executive VP, corporate development and chief innovation officer, reporting to Supervalu president and CEO Mark Gross. Weidenheimer joins the company after having spent the last 16 years in senior leadership positions with C&S Wholesale Grocers. He is expected to start in his new role by April 25, 2016.

    Jill Standish
      Jill Standish has joined Accenture Consulting and been named senior managing director, retail.   As the head of Accenture’s retail practice, Standish will focus on the business strategy and ongoing development and execution of retail industry strategy for clients. She will also manage the company’s retail industry client portfolio.
