  • IBM finds that online retailers rely on mobile traffic

    Online sales early this week were up nearly 12% from the equivalent Monday a year earlier. Data from the IBM Digital Analytics Holiday Benchmark shows that mobile traffic accounted for nearly 32% of all online traffic, up 42% compared to the same period last year.   

  • Black Friday tweets mostly positive or neutral

    Los Angeles – A majority of the 348,235 tweets about Black Friday posted between Friday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Nov. 24 were either positive or neutral in sentiment. According to analysis from social media research firm Fizziology, tweets about Black Sunday the weekend of Nov. 22-24 were 47% positive, 11% negative, 3% mixed and 39% neutral (from retailers/promotions).

    Milwaukee – Harley-Davidson is debuting a new Pinterest pinboard at Pinterest.com/harleydavidson. The pinboard features holiday gifts as well as 2014 bikes, custom items, and parts and accessories.

    Starting Nov. 26 and running through Dec. 24, people can create their own pinboard with Harley-Davidson items. Harley-Davidson will pick nine weekly winners at the $25-$200 level and one $10,000 grand prize winner with no purchase necessary.

  • Thanksgiving sales not getting much love on social media

    Thanksgiving holiday sales are not getting much social promotion this year from retailers. According to an analysis of 494 brand posts from eight retailers by social software company Expion, only 10 focused on Thanksgiving holiday sales (Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday), or just 2% of all brand posts, and only five of the eight retailers posted about holiday sales.

  • Mid-America sets up in-house marketing and PR

    Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.Mid-America Real Estate Group has named Emily Dutson as the firm’s first in-house marketing associate.

    Beginning on Dec. 1, she will oversee all channels of marketing and public relations for each of Mid-America’s locations in Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., Chicago, Detroit, Milwaukee and Minneapolis. She will provide all online, social media, website and print content as well as promotional initiatives and media communications.
