  • Destination XL Group taps CQuotient to launch personalized email programs

    Cambridge, Mass. -- Destination XL Group, the largest multichannel specialty retailer of big and tall men’s apparel, will leverage CQuotient’s advanced machine learning and predictive algorithms to create email campaigns tailored to individual shoppers at its Destination XL (“DXL”) stores and e-commerce sites.

  • AutoZone invests in marketing talent

    Albert Saltiel has joined AutoZone, the nation’s largest automotive retailer, as SVP of marketing and customer satisfaction.

    Saltiel will report directly to AutoZone chairman, president and CEO Bill Rhodes.

    "Al has spent many years working in both business to business and business to consumer environments," said Rhodes. "His experiences at Navistar, Sony and Ford are well suited for this position and we are excited to welcome Al to AutoZone."

  • Safeway launches campaign to help people with disabilities

    PLEASANTON, Calif. — The Safeway Foundation has launched its annual April fundraising campaign to benefit Easter Seals, Special Olympics and a range of organizations that help people with disabilities live fuller, more independent lives.

    The company's Support for People with Disabilities campaign, along with other fundraising activities, have contributed more than $140 million to Easter Seals, Special Olympics and an array of organizations that assist people with special needs.  

  • Walmart announces gasoline discount program

    Bentonville, Ark. -- Walmart is easing the pain at the pump by offering customers who use a Walmart MoneyCard or Walmart Credit Card a 15 cents per gallon reduction on their fuel purchase. Customers using a Walmart gift card will receive a 10 cent per gallon discount. Gas will be discounted at more than 1,000 Murphy USA and Walmart gas stations located at Walmart stores in 21 participating states.

  • Amazon buys social book review site

    SEATTLE -- Amazon.com went back to its roots as bookseller last week with the announcement that it would acquire social site Goodreads, an online book recommendation community that has more than 16 millions around the globe. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

  • Walmart rolls back fuel prices

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart has brought back its Great Gas Rollback program, helping customers save on their fuel purchases. Walmart customers using a Walmart gift card will receive a 10 cent per gallon discount; customers who use a Walmart MoneyCardor Walmart Credit Card will save 15 cents per gallon on their fuel purchase.

    Gas will be discounted at more than 1,000 Murphy USA and Walmart gas stations located at Walmart stores in 21 participating states.

  • Survey: Target, Best Buy, Walmart excel in mobile experience

    Worthington, Ohio -- Three high-profile big-box retailers received high marks for their mobile experiences, according to a survey by Prosper Insights & Analytics. In fact, among mobile users, 28.9% have used their mobile devices to shop at Walmart, 27.7% at Target, and 22% at Best Buy.

    Walmart held an invite only media event at the San Bruno, Calif. headquarters of its global e-commerce subsidiary and several things were clear as news reports trickled out from the event.
