    Long Island City, N.Y. -- The Yankee Candle Company is working with Michael C. Fina on the design and deployment of Yankee Candle’s employee recognition program.

    Michael C. Fina is helping Yankee Candle celebrate their employees’ company achievements and milestones, including service anniversaries, with a dedicated recognition program designed to align with Yankee Candle’s corporate goals and unique work culture.

  • Chick-fil-A founder Truett Cathy dies at 93

    Atlanta - S. Truett Cathy, founder and chairman emeritus of Chick-fil-A Inc., died at the age of 93 on Sept. 8.

    Cathy got his start in 1946, when he opened a diner in a suburb of Atlanta. He invented the Chick-fil-A sandwich in 1964 and opened the company's first restaurant in Atlanta in 1967. Under his leadership, the quick-serve eatery grew into one of the nation’s largest family-owned companies, with annual sales of $5 billion in 2013. Currently, there are more than 1,800 Chick-fil-A restaurants operating in 40 states and Washington, D.C.

  • Dick’s updates mobile app

    Pittsburgh – Dick’s Sporting Goods has launched an extensive update of its mobile app. The updated app offers features including access to the ScoreCard rewards program, a store locator, and in-app purchase functionality.

    Dick’s Sporting Goods has upgraded its mobile app to incude features such as access to the specialty retailer’s ScoreCard rewards program, a store locator and in-app purchase functionality.

    Users will also receive personalized coupons and offers. Built-in barcode scanner functionality allows users to scan product and marketing QR codes in-store for information, including product description, news, price and user reviews. The app is integrated with Dick’s Sporting Goods’ social media channels.
     

  • Saks rolls out user-generated content hub #SaksStyle

    Saks Fifth Avenue continues to step up its digital efforts with its launch of a user-generated content hub called #SaksStyle.

    Created by Curalate on its Fanreel image integration platform, #SaksStyle will function as a daily go-to guide for fashion inspiration created solely by Saks customers, highlighting products purchased from Saks Fifth Avenue locations nationwide and online.

  • Study: Only 5% of Americans have made purchase on a social media site

    New York -- With U.S. social commerce sales expected to reach $14 billion by 2015 and social networks like Twitter and Facebook ramping up their commerce capabilities, a survey by global marketing and technology agency DigitasLBi, and conducted online by Harris Poll, shows that while only 5% of Americans have made a purchase on a social media site, 20% would consider doing so.

  • Kmart offers Shop Your Way members no-money-down holiday layaway

    Hoffman Estates, Ill. - Kmart is offering a no-money-down layaway program to members of the Shop Your Way loyalty program for the holiday season, starting Sept. 4. Kmart's layaway program includes both online and in-store contracts for coveted items across dozens of merchandise categories, including apparel, home, toys and electronics.

    Kmart is also running a new ad for the program both on TV and YouTube.
