  • Fashion’s Night Out countdown begins; Target set to unveil Missoni pop-up

    New York City -- The third annual Fashion’s Night Out -- created by Vogue editor Anna Wintour -- is set to kick off on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m. Although the shopping extravaganza has spread to more than 100 U.S. cities as well as select cities abroad, its nexus remains in New York City. More than 1,000 Big Apple merchants and designers are participating in the event, which is the kickoff to the city’s Fashion Week industry gathering.

  • PetSmart 'pur'fects Martha Stewart line with cat products

    PHOENIX — PetSmart has the announced the launch of a new collection from Martha Stewart Pets. The collection features innovative, cat-friendly feeding bowls and mats, a well-designed bed and a range of fun, stimulating toys made exclusively for PetSmart stores and PetSmart.com, the company reported.

  • DDR and Glimcher Realty Trust announce strategic asset swap

    Columbus, Ohio -- Developers Diversified Realty and Glimcher Realty Trust announced Wednesday that the companies have entered into an agreement to swap two assets better aligned with the other’s operating platforms and strategies. 

    DDR will sell Glimcher its open-air mall, Town Center Plaza, in Kansas City, Kan., and Glimcher will sell DDR its power center, Polaris Towne Center, in Columbus, Ohio.

    The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2011.

  • Three Big Lots to join Centro portfolio in Colorado, Louisiana and Florida

    New York City -- Centro Properties Group US announced that three Big Lots have joined its portfolio, encompassing 92,006 sq. ft. and bringing Big Lots’ total store count with Centro to 49 locations.

    A 30,000-sq.-ft. Big Lots opened at Arapahoe Crossings, in Aurora, Colo.; a 28,000-sq.-ft. store opened at Lagniappe Village, in New Iberia, La.; and a 34,006-sq.-ft. lease has been executed with Big Lots at Panama City Square, located in Panama City, Fla.

    Target’s relationship with the Peterson Milla Hooks ad agency is ending soon but Ad Age reported on details of a final campaign set to air soon for the new Missoni line of apparel and accessories due to hit stores this month for a limited engagement. According to Ad Age, the new campaign includes a 30 second spot shot in Milan that features Margherita Missoni, granddaughter of Missoni’s founders.

  • IBM forecasts strong apparel sales for fall

    Armonk, N.Y. -- Apparel sales are expected to post year-over-year gains during the fall shopping season (August, September and October), with especially big increases in children's apparel, according to an analytics-based forecast by IBM.

    Sales in children's apparel this fall are expected to total $2.6 billion, an 11.1% increase over the prior-year period. Women's apparel sales are projected to total $9.2 billion, up 3.1% over last year.

  • Study: Mobile devices to account for 15% of Web searches on Black Friday

    New York City -- Fifteen percent of Web searches on Black Friday will be done on mobile devices, according to a study by Google’s AdMob.
