J.C. Penney to close outlet in Wisconsin

2/1/2010

Milwaukee J.C. Penney will close its outlet store in the Timmerman Plaza Shopping Center in Milwaukee on Dec. 4, resulting in the elimination of 113 jobs.

"The store has not consistently met its sales and profits for the past few years," said Ann Marie Bishop, spokeswoman for the department store chain.

Bishop said the outlet store once received a lot of its merchandise from its former catalog center in Wauwatosa, which closed in 2002. She also added that the lease for another outlet store in Milwaukee is up at the end of 2010.
