  • Silver Jeans Co. to expand U.S. store presence, names head of retail

    Winnipeg, Manitoba -- Canadian denim company Silver Jeans Co. said Thursday it will expand its branded stores in the United States, and has created a new retail division to execute the strategy.

    Silver Jeans Co. said it will launch the plan with a new store opening in early 2013, joining the only store currently open here at Park Meadows Mall in Denver.

  • Charlotte Russe selects Innotrac for e-commerce fulfillment, contact center solutions

    Atlanta -- Commerce solution provider Innotrac Corp. said Thursday that Charlotte Russe has selected it to provide fulfillment and contact center solutions for the retailer’s growing e-commerce business.

    Innotrac said it will provide e-commerce fulfillment and high-touch customer care services for Charlotte Russe, which also includes returns processing. Innotrac is working closely to integrate with Charlotte Russe's e-commerce platform powered by MICROS-Retail, ensuring a seamless customer experience across all major touch points.
     

  • Stein Mart profit dips in Q1

    Jacksonville, Fla. -- Stein Mart said Thursday that net income for the quarter ended April 28 slid 26% to $11.8 million, compared with $15.9 million in the same period last year.

    Revenue was basically flat at $303.4 million, missing Wall Street’s expected $303.9 million in revenue, and same-store sales dipped 0.4%.

    The company said it expects to open four new stores, relocate four stores and close four stores during the second half of 2012.
     

  • Sears swings to profit in first quarter, pursues partial spinoff off of Sears Canada

    HOFFMANESTATES, Ill. — Sears Holdings posted net income of $189 million in the quarter, compared with a loss of $165 million in the prior-year period.

    After several rounds of closings of Kmart and Sears full-line stores in the past months, revenues decreased $270 million to $9.3 billion for the quarter ended April 28. Domestic comp-store sales declined 1.3% -- 1.0% at Sears Domestic and 1.6% at Kmart. Sears also saw declines in its home appliances and consumer electronics categories.

  • Aeropostale profit down 65%

    New York -- Aeropostale said Thursday that net income for the first quarter narrowed to $10.6 million, from $16.4 million in the same period last year.

    Sales for the quarter ended April 28 rose 6% to $497.2 million, from $469.2 million, and same-store sales edged up 2% on the strength of its online performance. Without e-commerce results, same-store sales for the quarter were flat.

  • Abercrombie Q1 profit down 88%, hurt by 'difficult' European market

    New Albany, Ohio -- Abercrombie & Fitch Co. reported a 88% decline in its first quarter profit, hurt in part by difficult market conditions in Europe.

    For the quarter ended April 28, retailer earned $3.0 million compared with $25.1 million last year. Sales rose 10% to $921.2 million, but same-store sales were down 5%.
