  • Survey: Smartphones edge out other technology for gifts

    Austin, Texas – Smartphones are starting to edge out other popular forms of consumer technology as holiday gifts. According to a new survey from RetailMeNot and The Omnibus Company, within the next five years, less than one-in-five winter holiday gift givers plan to buy someone a portable music player (19%), desktop computer (19%), GPS device (13%) or regular cell phone (9%) for the holidays.

  • Adobe survey: Online holiday shopping looks strong

    San Jose, Calif. -- Despite the shortest shopping season since 2002, online sales look strong for the upcoming holidays. A new survey from Adobe predicts record growth for online sales on Thanksgiving with $1.1 billion and Black Friday with $1.6 billion, increases of 21% and 17%, respectively.

  • Lane Bryant opens four shopping center stores Nov. 8

    Columbus, Ohio – Lane Bryant is opening four stores at different shopping centers on Nov. 8. These locations include a refreshed store at Eastwood Towne Center and a new store at The Marketplace at Delta Township in Lansing, Mich., as well as new stores at the Clackamas Promenade in Clackamas, Ore., and the Epps Bridge Center in Athens, Ga.

    Lane Bryant operates more than 800 full-line and outlet stores in 48 states nationwide.

  • HSN displays strong Q3 performance

    St. Petersburg, Fla. – HSN, Inc. (HSNi) reported impressive financial results for the third quarter of fiscal 2013. Net income soared about 137% to $42.05 million, compared to $17.69 million in the same quarter a year prior.

  • Shaquille O'Neal enlisted to endorse Monster products

    Talk about an appropriate spokesperson. Monster, a leading manufacturer of headphones and personal audio equipment, has enlisted retired basketball superstar Dr. Shaquille O'Neal to endorse the company’s products across multiple categories.

    "I am excited that we are collaborating with Shaq to market Monster's products. His bigger than life personality, coupled with his keen marketing experience and sense is a great fit for the Monster brand," said head ‘Monster’ " Noel Lee.

  • Meijer opens Illinois supercenter

    Grand Rapids, Mich. - Meijer will open a supercenter in Danville, Ill., on Nov. 7, marking its final of six new stores the retailer has opened this year in the Midwest. The 190,000-sq.-ft. store has created 300 new jobs and provides local residents a 24-hour shopping option.

  • HSNi strong in third quarter

    HSNi reported impressive financial results for the third quarter of fiscal 2013. Net income soared about 137% to $42 million, compared to $17.7 million in the same quarter a year prior.

    In addition, net sales grew almost 3%, to $789.9 million from $778.8 million. The elimination of a roughly $18 million loss related to debt extinguishment recorded in the third quarter of fiscal 2012 drove much of the quarterly net income growth. Mindy Grossman, CEO of HSN, also cited digital and mobile growth as boosting the company’s overall performance.
