  • H&M, other new stores heading to Eastwood

    Niles, Ohio -- Major changes are in store for the retail lineup at the Eastwood Mall Complex, a Cafaro Company shopping center in Niles, Ohio. H&M will open a new 20,000-sq.-ft. store on center court by early fall. Everything Buckeyes, which currently occupies that space, will move to its new location in the Sears Concourse, reopening in mid-March.

  • Whole Foods Q1 profit tops forecasts as sales accelerate

    Austin, Texas -- Whole Foods Market's value message is resonating with shoppers as the chain delivered same store sales growth of 4.5% and record first quarter profits as net income increased to $167 million from $158 million.

    The retailer said sales for its first quarter ended Jan. 18 increased 10% to $4.67 billion due to the addition of new selling space and the increased productivity of existing stores reflected in the 4.5% comp increase, which pushed sales per square foot to $990.

  • Finish Line runs omnichannel NBA All-Star promotion

    Indianapolis - The Finish Line Inc. is running an omnichannel promotion linked to the upcoming pro basketball all-star weekend in New York City. Finish Line collaborated with Under Armour, pro basketball star Stephen Curry and several key influencers within the basketball marketplace to host a contest surrounding the new Curry 1 product launch on Feb. 13.

  • Amazon launches Amazon Giveaway

    Seattle – Amazon.com keeps on rolling out new products, technologies and services. The latest is Amazon Giveaway, a new self-service tool designed to modernize radio giveaways.

    Everyone from authors, aspiring artists, non-profits, brands, bloggers, social media gurus and more, can now use Amazon to create a giveaway, choosing prizes from millions of eligible physical items. Amazon Giveaway is an intuitive tool that allows anyone to create and host their own giveaway, to generate awareness and reward their audiences.

  • Target pulls the plug on movie service

    Target is continuing to re-define its digital offerings, this time by shutting down its two-year-old movie streaming service.

    The Target Ticket service was shut down Tuesday, but customers will still be able to use the service to view already rented movies and TV shows until Target Ticket's closure on March 7.

  • Report: Sycamore pursues $3 billion Chico’s deal

    Fort Myers, Fla. – Chico’s FAS Inc. may be the next big-name retailer to undergo an acquisition. Private equity firm Sycamore Partners is reportedly pursuing a $3 billion acquisition of the specialty women’s apparel retailer.

    According to Reuters, Sycamore already has an agreement in principle to acquire Chico’s, contingent upon obtaining financing. However, Sycamore may be having difficulty finding a bank or banks willing to allow as much debt as the company is looking for.
     

  • Proximity based promotions give shoppers supply chain visibility

    An agreement between Mobiquity Networks and personal shopping concierge service ShopAdvisor is giving retailers intriguing new options to drive sales by serving offers to shoppers predisposed to purchase certain products.
