  • Ex-Victoria's Secret CEO joins Brown Shoe board

    Brown Shoe Company has added the former CEO of Victoria’s Secret to its board of directors. 

    “Adding Lori Greeley -- a well-known and highly-respected leader in retail -- to our board of directors gives us the benefit of her more than 20 years of experience,” said Diane Sullivan, CEO, president and chairman of Brown Shoe Company. “Her energy and passion for the business and her leadership skills will be a welcome addition to our company.”

  • Red Wing Shoes to open at Arbrook Square

    Arlington, Texas -- Red Wing Shoes will open a 1,500-sq.-ft. store at Arbrook Square Shopping Center in Arlington, Texas. The center is located at the southeast corner of Arbrook Boulevard and Matlock Road.

    Cynthia Bailey of WindStar Properties represented the landlord, Arbrook Square Investors, L.P. The tenant was represented by Cameron Haddad of NAI Robert Lynn Company.
     

  • RadioShack files Chapter 11 but brand to live on in deal with Standard General and Sprint

    New York -- In an indication that the end could be getting close, RadioShack Corp. will close its distribution center in Hagerstown, Maryland, the Dallas Business Journal reported.

    The move will result in some 87 layoffs.

    The report cited the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, which said the facility will close March 11. The news of the closing follows reports that the struggling chain is near to filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
     

  • Boot Barn marches on in Q3

    Boot Barn continued its march of success in the third quarter, which produced another round of positive financial results.

    The company reported that for the third quarter ended Dec. 27, net sales increased 13.1% to $130.5 million; same store sales, which include e-commerce sales, increased 7.2%; and net income was $8.8 million, or $0.36 per diluted share, compared to a net income of $6.3 million or $0.33 per diluted share.

  • Amazon opens its first-ever staffed pickup and drop-off center, at Purdue University

    Seattle -- Amazon confirmed reports that it is piloting co-branded pickup sites with universities with the announcement that it has opened its first-ever staffed pickup and drop-off on-campus location, at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, and plans to open similar sites at the University of California, Davis and the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
