  • Steiner to lease Legacy Village in Lyndhurst, Ohio

    Columbus, Ohio — First Interstate Properties has named Steiner + Associates as the exclusive retail leasing agent for its 610,000-sq.-ft. mixed-use Legacy Village in Lyndhurst, Ohio.

  • New Nordstrom Rack planned for Utah

    Seattle -- Nordstrom plans to open a Nordstrom Rack at University Crossing in Orem, Utah.

    The approximately 30,000-sq.-ft. store is scheduled to open in spring 2015. University Crossing is owned and managed by University Crossing Shopping Center.

  • Barneys deploys iPad app as part of its continuing digital strategy

    Barneys New York has launched an iPad app that offers consumers improved shopping functionality as well as relevant and exclusive content.

    New functions on the app include a Personal Shopping scheduling tool, which Barneys touts as the first of its kind for a luxury retailer. Created in partnership with mobile development and design firm Fueled, the app is now available for complimentary download through the Apple iTunes store.

  • JLL brokers sale of Market Square in Akron, Ohio

    Atlanta — JLL has announced the closing of the sale of Market Square at Montrose on behalf of LaSalle Investment Management to HP Realty LLC. Purchased for $32.5 million, the 510,231-sq.-ft. retail center hosts anchors Home Depot, J.C. Penney, Levin Furniture, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Regal Cinemas, Toys “R” Us and Cost Plus World Market.

    “Akron and similar cities are back in favor with investors,” commented Kris Cooper, a JLL managing director.

  • A Splash of Cold Water

    The recent announcement from Coldwater Creek that the women’s apparel brand will seek Chapter 11 protection and plans to start liquidating its inventory didn’t exactly come as a surprise. It has been years since the company posted a quarterly profit, and industry analysts and observers have been pointing to Coldwater’s worrying inability to compete stylistically in an increasingly competitive and youth-oriented women’s fashion market.

    New York – Barney’s New York has released its iPad app. Created in partnership with mobile development and design firm Fueled, the app will allow users to experience the shopping functionality found on Barneys.com seamlessly integrated with relevant and exclusive content, providing background and insight into purchases.

  • Simon plans Phipps Plaza renovation in Atlanta

    Atlanta — Simon Property Group has announced a series of improvements for Phipps Plaza in Atlanta’s fashionable Buckhead district.

    The first improvement will make over the interior with a fresh new look. Plans include upgraded LED lighting, repainting, new warm wood accents, an updated railing system, luxury soft seating and lounging areas with Wi-Fi connectivity and chargers, upgraded restrooms and the installation of a hotel-like concierge service center.

  • The Children’s Place to SkyView Center in Queens, N.Y.

    Queens, N.Y. — The Children’s Place has leased a 3,799-sq.-ft. space near other child focused retailers at The Shops at SkyView Center in the Flushing neighborhood of Queens, N.Y. The retailer plans to open in May.
