  • CEO of discount department store chain going ‘undercover’ on popular TV show

    A CEO who took over family business when he was 27 years old is the next retailer to be spotlighted on the CBS television show, “Undercover Boss.”

    Sam Dushey heads up Shoppers World, a family-owned and -operated full-line discount department store chain headquartered in New York City. In his 10-year stint as CEO, Dushey has grown the business from eight stores to 40 locations across 11 states and up to $250 million in annual retail sales. Dushey is now looking expand the company to 500 stores.

  • Iconic Fifth Avenue women’s store to create greater sales space

    One of New York City’s most iconic luxury apparel stores is getting bigger.

    Bergdorf Goodman will relocate its executive offices and other non-sales related functions to 4 West 58th Street, adjacent to its iconic Fifth Avenue location. The move will create an additional 25,000 sq. ft. of retail space in the retailer’s flagship, including the entire 8th and 9th floors.

  • Specialty retailer expands its global footprint

    Charming Charlie opened its first location in the Philippines, at Bonifacio High Street Central Square.

    The location showcases the brand’s newest retail store concept, and features signature double doors in vibrant pink lacquer and a residential-style interior that mixes feminine, mid-century accents with luxe materials and whimsical details.

    In the Philippines, Charming Charlie is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, a member of SSI Group, Inc., which has further growth planned for the brand in Cebu and Manila next year.

    Youngstown, Ohio -- Cafaro Company announced off-price home fashion retailer HomeGoods is the latest addition to the Millcreek Mall Complex located in Youngstown, Ohio. This new 25,000 sq. ft. store will open its doors in the summer of 2016 in the Millcreek Pavilion section of the complex, next to Michael’s.

  • Kohl's to stay open more than 170 straight hours

    Kohl's is pulling out all the stops in the hopes of increasing holiday sales this season by staying open through Christmas Eve.

    Kohl's plans to keep its doors open for more than 170 hours straight from 7 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17 through 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Thursday, Dec. 24 as an added convenience to holiday shoppers. In addition to extended store hours for last-minute shopping, customers will find special savings opportunities on Super Saturday, Dec. 19, and time-saving conveniences such as buy online, pick up in store for last minute gifts.

  • J.C. Penney brings new meaning to ‘mall Santa’

    Mallgoers who need to see what’s happening at the North Pole before they believe in Santa Claus will have their doubts erased, thanks to J.C. Penney. According to Advertising Age, Penney is using Oculus virtual reality headsets in an immersive holiday promotional experience called “Twas the Flight before Christmas” at four select malls. Customers will be able to interact with a virtual “Santa’s Workshop” environment.
