New York -- RKF has arranged a 1,560-sq.-ft. lease with international high-end fashion retailer IRO at 241 Columbus Avenue on the Upper West Side in New York City. This will be the second Manhattan store for the French apparel brand, known for its mixing of luxury fabrics with casual street style.
The transaction was arranged by RKF’s executive VP Joshua Strauss and associate Taryn Talmadge, who represented IRO, while the building ownership was represented by RKF executive VP Ariel Schuster and managing director Brandon Eisenman.
IRO – expected to open in September 2015 – will occupy 860 sq. ft. on the ground floor and 700 sq. ft. on the lower level of the 15,000-sq.-ft. property, which is located on the northeast corner of West 71st Street. The new boutique is situated among retail co-tenants along Columbus Avenue including, Kate Spade, Vince, Theory, Intermix, Athleta, Kiehl’s, Olive & Bette’s and L’Occitane en Provence.
“The demographics of the Upper West Side and current high-end retail neighbors made this location the perfect fit for IRO’s uptown debut,” said Strauss. “We’re seeing more and more top luxury brands and national retailers flocking to the Upper West Side and Columbus Avenue in particular, given the strong foot traffic from the residential population, nearby museums and Central Park.”
IRO, which opened its first store in Paris in 2006, has over 25 stores worldwide. The brand opened its 2,000-sq.-ft. U.S. flagship store on Broome Street in SoHo in 2013 and has plans to continue expansion in the U.S.
