  • Thanksgiving sales have low social media promotion

    Raleigh, N.C. – Thanksgiving holiday sales are not getting much social promotion this year from retailers. According to an analysis of 494 brand posts from eight retailers by social software company Expion, only 10 focused on Thanksgiving holiday sales (Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday), or just 2% of all brand posts, and only five of the eight retailers posted about holiday sales.

  • JLL brokers sale of Atlanta’s Powers Ferry Plaza

    Atlanta — Jones Lang LaSalle has closed the sale of Powers Ferry Plaza on behalf of Equity One. An Atlanta-based private investor purchased the 86,401-sq.-ft. shopping center anchored by Micro Center.

    The property is strategically located on approximately 10.7 acres along Powers Ferry Road near the intersection of Powers Ferry Road and Delk Road, a little more than 12 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta.

     

  • New console buzz not enough for GameStop’s Q3 results

    Last week’s PS4 launch and the highly anticipated Xbox One launch bolstered GameStop’s third-quarter results, but not as much as some investors expected, according to other reports.

    The company posted total global sales for the quarter of $2.11 billion, an 18.8% increase from $1.77 billion in the prior-year quarter. Consolidated comparable store sales surged 20.5%, significantly above the forecasted range — but, according to a Reuters report, not enough to keep shares from slipping 6%.

  • China, U.S., U.K. top e-commerce opportunity study

    New York -- China takes the top spot in online retail market opportunity, followed by Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Korea, according to a new global e-commerce study by A.T. Kearney. (Kearney’s “2013 Global Retail E-Commerce Index” is comprised of 30 developed and developing markets.)

  • Shoppers will spend half their holiday budget during Thanksgiving sales

    Washington, D.C. -- More than 60% of consumers will start holiday shopping on Black Friday and most will spend more than 50% of their holiday budget over the Thanksgiving weekend, according to research by the Georgetown Institute for Consumer Research, sponsored by KPMG.
