  • Quiksilver concept store to make NYC debut in Meatpacking District

    New York -- Real estate firm RKF announced that it has arranged a 5,900-sq.-ft. lease for Boardriders in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. Located on the south block between Ninth Avenue and Washington Street at 408 West 14th Street, this will become the Quiksilver concept store’s first Manhattan location.  
  • Vaughan Mills opens 50-store expansion

    Toronto, Canada - An $87 million, 200,000-sq.-ft., 50-store expansion has been opened to the public at Vaughan Mills Shopping Centre, operated by Ivanhoe Cambridge. The expansion on the east side of the property features an Event Court, a digital lounge and a Sport Neighborhood.   
  • RadioShack offers price matching, new payment options for holidays

    Fort Worth, Texas -– Radio Shack is launching its new “R Promise” initiative to offer holiday shoppers services including price matching and new payment options. Radio Shack stores will match prices on identical products from local brick-and-mortar competitors, major online retailers (excluding wireless phones from online retailers) and RadioShack.com at the time of purchase or within 15 days of the purchase.  
  • Polaroid Fotobar to open seven mini-stores in Westfield malls in California

    Boca Raton, Fla. -- Polaroid Fotobar  will open seven “micro-retail” locations in select Westfield Malls throughout California. The 300-sq.-ft. spaces will offer services and products that allows shoppers to turn their digital images into physical prints and framed pieces of art.   
  • Construction complete on Azalea Regional Shopping Center

    South Gate, Calif. -- Construction on the Nadel-designed Azalea Regional Shopping Center is now complete, bringing a new 32-acre retail hub to the city of South Gate, Calif. Located at 4635 Firestone Blvd., and owned by Primestor Development, Inc., the project includes more than 370,000 sq. ft. of retail space and 37 stores.   
  • Toshiba to resell Motorola retail solutions

    Irvine, Calif. -- Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions will resell Motorola retail solutions including mobile computers, wireless network solutions, bar code scanners and the MP6000 multi-plane bioptic imager and accessories. Toshiba has signed Motorola Solutions’ Global Systems Integrator Agreement and is now a member of Motorola's PartnerEmpower program.   
  • Vermont’s first Walmart Supercenter opens at Berlin Mall

    Berlin, Vt. -- The Berlin Mall, in Berlin, Vt., hosted the grand opening of the state’s first Walmart Supercenter on Wednesday. The location was previously a 65,000+-sq.-ft. Walmart store that added 26,200 sq. ft. and full-line grocery offerings to bring the retailer’s first supercenter to Vermont.  
  • Staples investigating possible data breach

    Framingham, Mass. -- Staples Inc. is reportedly investigating a possible data breach. According to security blogger Brian Krebs, sources at several East Coast-based banks say it is likely that criminals gained access to customer card data at a group of Northeastern Staples stores including seven stores in Pennsylvania, at least three in New York City, and one in New Jersey.
