  • Report: Luxottica owner says return as CEO temporary

    Milan, Italy –- Leonardo Del Vecchio, 79, the chairman and founder of global eyewear manufacturer/retailer Luxottica Group who assumed the role of interim CEO on Oct. 14, has reportedly sent a letter to employees reassuring them his return as CEO is temporary. According to Reuters, in the letter, Del Vecchio said he would step down and turn management over to new co-CEOs once the company’s new governance structure is consolidated.  
  • Project Spotlight: Jefferson Commons, Louisville, Ky.

    Construction is currently underway at Jefferson Commons, a regional shopping center in a booming area of Louisville, Ky. Developed by GBT Realty Corp., based in Brentwood, Tenn., the 230,000-sq.-ft. Jefferson Commons will feature Academy Sports + Outdoors, Five Below, Mattress Firm, Mens Wearhouse, Hancock Fabrics and Avalon Nails.  
  • GBT Realty adds tenants to Middletown Commons

    Louisville, Ky. -- Brentwood, Tennessee-based GBT Realty Corp. announced an expanded tenant line-up that brings a Louisville, Kentucky, regional shopping center to over 90% leased.     Middletown Commons will see its first tenants opening in November; construction is currently underway.  
  • Uniqlo opens at Great Mall Oct. 31

    New York -- Uniqlo is opening a store at Great Mall in Milpitas, California on Friday, Oct. 31. The new addition signifies the completion of a redesign of Great Mall’s interior mid-section, which has allowed for additional retail space.    This space reconfiguration has extended Great Mall’s growing fashion corridor with other popular retailers, including Guess Factory Store and an expanded Tommy Hilfiger Company store.   
  • Ron Johnson launching start-up that helps online shoppers choose products

    New York -- The cat is finally out of the bag. Former J.C. Penney CEO and Apple retail head Ron Johnson confirmed that he is launching a new company—but it’s not a tech-gadget delivery service as was widely rumored. Instead,  the new initiative, set to launch in 2015,  is designed to help online hoppers make the right product choices.  
  • Tuesday Morning to open at Blue Star Shopping Center

    Watchung, N.J. -- Tuesday Morning is set to join the tenant mix at Blue Star Shopping Center in Watchung, New Jersey, with plans to open an 11,000-sq.-ft. store at the 419,000-sq.-ft. shopping center.  
  • Great Expressions Dental Centers joins tenant mix at Summit Plaza

    Hackensack, N.J. -- Great Expressions Dental Centers is the latest tenant to join the retail mix at Summit Plaza in Hackensack, N.J. The dental care provider has leased 3,000 sq. ft. at the 100,000-sq.-ft. shopping center, announced Alfred Sanzari Enterprises, owner and manager of Summit Plaza.  
  • Survey: 90% of holiday shoppers expect consistent experience across channels and devices

    Wakefield, Mass. -- Ninety percent of consumers said they expect the customer experience to be consistent across channels and devices used to interact with brands this holiday shopping season, according to a global study by SDL. The figure represents a 17% increase from what consumers reported last year.
