  • Survey: Consumers like new ‘shoppable media’ trend

    Not only is a picture worth 1,000 words, but it may be worth $1,000.

    A new survey from Adobe shows that consumers have a very positive response to “shoppable media” – online images and videos that serve as direct transactional tools.

  • TJX CEO to step down in January

    The TJX Companies announced that chairman and CEO Carol Meyrowitz will step down, effective January 31, 2016.

    She will be succeeded by Ernie Herrman, 54, who will retain his current title as president of the company. Meyrowitz, 61, who has been at the helm of TJX since January 2007, will become executive chairman of the company’s board at the time of the CEO transition.

    There will be a change at the top of lifestyle apparel retailer Tommy Bahama.

  • Ross Dress for Less opens new North Carolina store Oct. 10

    Ross Dress for Less will open a new store in Elizabeth City, North Carolina on Oct. 10. The 18,000-sq.-ft.store is located in Tanglewood Pavilions.

    The opening is part of the retailer’s 2015 expansion program, totaling approximately 70 new locations during the year.

  • Kurt Salmon acquires digital retail tech agency

    Global management consultancy Kurt Salmon is acquiring digital retail technology agency Mobispoke LLC, the engine behind such technologies as smart fitting rooms, integrated mobile apps and other leading-edge, interactive shopping experience technologies.

    Following the acquisition, Mobispoke will rebrand as Kurt Salmon Digital and will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Kurt Salmon.

  • Change in leadership coming to Tommy Bahama

    There will be a change at the top of lifestyle apparel retailer Tommy Bahama.

    The company announced that Terry R. Pillow will retire as CEO of Tommy Bahama Group on January 30, 2016, the end of the company's fiscal year. He will be succeeded by Douglas B. Wood, Tommy Bahama's current president and COO.

  • Tanger closes on sale of five centers

    Tanger Factory Outlet Centers has closed on the sale of five non-core outlet centers for a total cash sales price of $150.7 million.

    The five properties sold are located in Barstow, California; Kittery, Maine (two properties); Tuscola, Illinois; and West Branch, Michigan.

  • J.Crew Mercantile to open first-to-market store in Charlotte, N.C.

    Charlotte, N.C. -- EDENS announced that J.Crew Mercantile will be joining Park Road Shopping Center located in Charlotte, North Carolina. This location will be the first in the Charlotte market and is expected to open in early 2016.

    J.Crew launched J.Crew Mercantile earlier this year, featuring a collection of value-driven merchandise with the brand's classic signature style.
