  • Glimcher to buy WestShore Plaza and sell Lloyd Center

    Columbus, Ohio -- Glimcher Realty Trust has announced plains to purchase its remaining interest in WestShore Plaza in Tampa, Fla. and to sell its interest in Lloyd Center in Portland, Ore. Glimcher holds a 40% interest in a joint venture with Blackstone Real Estate Partners VI that owns both properties.

    SIDNEY, Neb. — Cabela’s drew record attendance at its 2013 annual meeting of shareholders June 5 in Sidney, Neb., home of company headquarters.

    A crowd of more than 3,000 gathered June 4 to catch a performance by Cabela’s ambassador and Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year Luke Bryan, with fellow country star Jon Pardi, at the Cheyenne County Fairgrounds.

    H&M is collaborating with Parisian designer Isabel Marant on a fall line, inspired by her signature style, featuring clothing and accessories for teenagers, women and for the first time, men.

    The retailer will roll out the collection Nov. 14 in approximately 250 of its stores worldwide.

    BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — Kathy Ireland has been named chief designer for Royal Footwear & Accessories, and is launching her own line of footwear with the company in spring 2015.

    Key elements in the collection will include soft footbeds and flex insoles with lightweight outsoles that will incorporate traction technology throughout the footwear brand.

    Total U.S. Shopper Traffic in Retail Stores and Malls for May 2013

    Shopper activity had a healthy gain last month. Retail foot traffic increased 9% in May compared to April 2013, consistent with generally positive month-over-month retail traffic trends. Foot traffic for May 2013 increased 6.9% compared to the same month in 2012.

  • Wet Seal appoints Talbots exec as head of stores and operations

    Foothill Ranch, Calif. -- The Wet Seal announced today that retail veteran Lesli Gilbert has been appointed executive VP, stores and operations, effective immediately. Gilbert replaces Barbara Cook, former senior VP store operations, who resigned in February.

    Most recently, Gilbert was senior VP of stores at The Talbots, where she was responsible for developing the stores strategy and framework to reposition the business
