  • Under Armour turns 20 in 2016; expects best year ever

    A 31% increase in its store count and a host of digital initiatives helped Under Armour achieve stellar fourth quarter and full year results, with 2016 expectations calling for more of the same.

  • CBRE hires global executive of Retail Occupier, EMEA

    London -- CBRE Group Inc. has appointed Mark Burlton as Global Executive of its Retail Occupier team, EMEA. Burlton will lead the development of CBRE’s Retail Occupier business in Europe, as well as advising its European retail clients on expansion into the US and Asia, and international retailers into Europe.

    Burlton will be based in London and work closely with Peter Gold, head of cross border retail, EMEA and David Close, senior director, EMEA occupier cross border. He will also join CBRE’s Global Retail Executive Group.

  • Report: Under Armour has big store expansion plans for 2016

    Athletic wear giant Under Armour plans to open some 200 store in 2016, according to The Street. While the brand did not comment, the report said the expansion would likely include a mixture of store types, including outlet locations, “Brand House” stores, (the company’s full-price, experiential format) and in-store shops.     Troutdale, Ore. -- Time Equities announced the expansion of its Northwest portfolio with the acquisition of Columbia Gorge Premium Outlets, located in Troutdale, Oregon for $28,425,000.

  • Mid-America Real Estate handles sale of Broadway Commons

    Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois -- Mid-America Real Estate Corporation’s Investment Sales team brokered the sale of Broadway Commons in Rochester, Minnesota. Austin, Texas-based Epic Real Estate Partners purchased the 140,578-sq. ft. property.

    Broadway Commons is located at the northeast corner of South Broadway and US Highway 52. The center features national tenants including Bed Bath & Beyond, Dress Barn, DSW, Famous Footwear and Michael’s.

  • Ascena Retail Group appoints a new SVP

    Ascena Retail Group has a new senior vice president to lead the company through its next phase of growth.

    The company announced that Duane Holloway has been named Senior Vice President and General Counsel, effective immediately. Holloway will serve on the company’s leadership team and report to David Jaffe, President and CEO. He will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters for the Company.

  • Not-so-big Q4 for Big 5 Sporting Goods

    Big 5 Sporting Goods had a lackluster fourth quarter despite saying that cold weather in its Western markets drove strong traffic during the holidays.

    For the fourth quarter ended Jan. 3, the company reported that net sales were $275 million, compared to net sales of $250.3 million for the 13-week fourth quarter of fiscal 2014. Same-store sales increased 0.1%. For the full year, net sales were $1.03 billion, compared to net sales of $977.9 million for the 52-week fiscal 2014 full year. Same store sales increased 1.3% for the fiscal 2015 full year.

  • Boot Barn backtracks on Q3 expectations

    Warm weather, as well as layoffs in the oil and gas industry hindered sales Boot Barn during the holiday quarter.

    Boot Barn announced preliminary results for the third quarter ended Dec. 26 as follows:

    • Preliminary net sales increased 49% to approximately $194 million;

    • Opened 5 new stores and completed the rebranding of 19 Sheplers stores;

  • Genesco lowers earnings forecast

    Genesco is lowering its earnings forecast for the fiscal year despite a 3% increase in same-store sales over the holiday period.

    The company said same-store sales increased 3% for the quarter-to-date period ended Jan.2. Sales for the company's e-commerce and catalog direct sales businesses increased 20% on a comparable basis for that period.

  • X Team partners complete sale-leaseback transactions for three Melrose Family Fashions locations

    Salt Lake City -- X Team International, an international alliance of retail real estate advisors, announced that partners Mountain West Retail and Investment, Dunbar Commercial and Endeavor Real Estate Group, completed three sale-leaseback transactions to Capview Partners for Melrose Family Fashions totaling 32,160 sq. ft. The Melrose Family Fashions stores included in the transaction are located in three Texas cities: Laredo, Odessa and Rio Grande City.
