  • Nordstrom Rack coming to Hawaii development

    Seattle – Nordstrom Inc. plans to open Nordstrom Rack at Waikiki Trade Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. The approximately 34,000-sq.-ft., two-level store is scheduled to open in spring 2016.

    The property was acquired by Coastwood Capital Group, LLC in late 2013.

  • Report: The money behind women’s closet doors

    New York -- Women have a real investment hiding in their closets, according to a survey by Alliance Data’s Card Services business, which manages store-brand credit card programs for retailers.

    One-fourth of survey respondents indicated the total value of the items in their closet to be from $1,000 to $2,499, and 17% valued the contents between $5,000 and $9,999.  

  • Eddie Bauer comes to Legacy Place center in Massachusetts

    Dedham, Mass. – The Legacy Place shopping center is opening an Eddie Bauer location on July 2. The Legacy Place store will feature outerwear, apparel, footwear, gear, and accessories for men and women.

    “Eddie Bauer not only enhances the overall merchandise mix of the center, it also adds another reason to make Legacy Place your first choice shopping destination” said Beth Winbourne, general manager, Legacy Place.

  • Michaels, Gymboree team up on Instagram promotion

    Irving, Texas – The Michaels Companies Inc. is teaming up with The Gymboree Corp, on a summer Instagram promotion. Customers who share on Instagram how their family is crafting in style using the hashtag #CraftingInStyleSweeps and follow both Michales and Gymboree on Instagram will be entered to win a $100 gift card to both retailers.

    Three winners will be chosen at random each week.

  • J.Crew fires head designer, trims staff

    Troubled specialty retailer J.Crew Group Inc. says it has laid off 175 staff members and fired its chief women’s designer.

    The company says the changes and business improvement initiatives will "better align with the current and future retail environment."

  • Macy’s adds two more store locations for launch of Macy’s Backstage

    Cincinnati -- Macy’s on Monday announced two more pilot store locations in metro New York City for its new off-price format, Macy’s Backstage. The additional stores brings to six the total number of Macy’s Backstage for launch. All are expected to open in fall 2015 and average about 30,000 sq. ft.

    The added locations are at Fordham Place in The Bronx, and Essex Green Shopping Center, West Orange, New Jersey, where an existing Macy’s store will be converted to Macy’s Backstage.

  • X Team partner Strategic Retail Advisors completes lease for Charming Charlie flagship

    Framingham, Mass. -- X Team International, an international alliance of retail real estate advisors with expertise in more than 45 major markets throughout the U.S. and Canada, announced that partner, Strategic Retail Advisors (SRA), a retail real estate consulting and brokerage firm focused on tenant representation throughout the Northeast, has successfully negotiated a lease on behalf of accessories retailer Charming Charlie.

    Jewelry and accessories retailer Charming Charlie has opened its largest store yet, a three-level, 16,000-sq.-ft. flagship on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue. Designed in partnership with Callison Architects, Seattle, the store features a two-story, 30-foot tall glass façade and 20-ft. tall double doors in the brand's signature vibrant pink lacquer.

  • Charming Charlie opens New York flagship, will expand globally

    New York - Charming Charlie has unveiled its first New York City flagship store. Situated on Fifth Avenue, the flagship is a showcase for the brand's new store concept, and was designed in partnership with Callison Architects.
