  • Field & Stream to open Erie, Pennsylvania, store

    Pittsburgh — The Field & Stream specialty retail concept has announced plans to open a new store in Erie, Pennsylvania, on June 13 at Millcreek Marketplace.

    Field & Stream stores carry a wide variety of national outdoor brands including Remington, Sitka, Sage, Simms, Shimano and Yeti and provide a variety of in-store services. The store is not associated with Field & Stream Licenses Co. or Field & Stream Magazine. Dick’s Sporting Goods owns and operates Field & Stream specialty retail stores and FieldandStreamShop.com.

  • Uniqlo to enter Los Angeles market in September; announces five locations

    New York -- Uniqlo will continue its expansion in the United States by entering the Los Angeles market. The Japanese retail powerhouse announced it will open five stores in the Los Angeles area, starting in August, at South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa, followed by a location at Glendale Galleria, Glendale, in September.
       
    In October, the company will open at the Beverly Center, Los Angeles, and Northridge Fashion Center, Northridge. In spring 2015, Uniqlo will open a store at Los Cerritos Center in Cerritos.  

  • Aéropostale exiting malls with youth format

    Teen specialist Aéropostale lent credence to the “malls are dying” voices by announcing the closure of 125-mall based stores and the elimination of 100 headquarter positions.

    Citing changing shopping patterns among moms, Aéropostale said it planned to close 125 of its 150 P.S. from Aéropostale stores which focus on kids ages four through 12. The move is part of a larger cost reduction program related to a turnaround strategy that is expected to result in annual savings of $30 to $35 million.

  • Wet Seal to phase out Arden B banner

    Foothill Ranch, Calif. - The Wet Seal Inc. will begin winding down its Arden B brand. Arden B currently operates 54 mall-based stores and an e-commerce website.

  • Kendra Scott Jewelry opens two Atlanta stores

    Atlanta -- Boutique accessories and jewelry designer Kendra Scott will add two new Atlanta-area stores – one in Buckhead at The Shops Around Lenox, and the other in Alpharetta, at the Avalon Center.

    The Shops Around Lenox store opens April 26, and will feature an interactive Kendra Scott Color Bar, where customers can design and personalize one-of-a-kind jewelry.

    The Avalon Center store in Alpharetta is slated to open fall 2014.

  • Paul Morelli to open jewelry store on Madison Avenue

    New YorkFaith Hope Consolo, chairman, and Joseph Aquino, executive VP of Douglas Elliman's Retail Group are bringing Philadelphia-based, international Society jeweler, Paul Morelli, to 895 Madison Avenue, at the intersection of 72nd Street.

    The jeweler has been a presence at Bergdorf Goodman since 1981. The multi-level first New York store will offer 40 feet of double frontage and face two Ralph Lauren mansions.

     

  • Calypso St. Barth obtains $17.5 million in growth capital

    Long Island City, N.Y. – Calypso St. Barth Inc. has obtained a $17.5 million senior-secured credit facility from Salus Capital Partners LLC. The financing will be used to refinance its current lender, general corporate purposes and continued store growth.

    “The Salus team has demonstrated a deep understanding of our business,” remarked David Stiffman, president and CFO of Calypso St. Barth. “The new facility with Salus provides us the ability to capitalize on our business momentum and execute our growth strategies.”

  • Primark to make U.S. retail debut with store in Boston

    Dublin, Ireland – Discount fast-fashion retailer Primark, the Dublin-based subsidiary of U.K. retail and consumer group Associated British Foods, plans to enter the United States, opening a location in Boston. The 70,000-sq.-ft. store will open at the end of 2015 and be on the site of the former Filene's department store in the city’s downtown area.

  • Claire’s names new CEO after weak Q4

    Beatrice Lafon was named CEO at specialty retailer Claire’s Stores following the release of fourth quarter results and a steep slide in same store sales.

  • New Nordstrom Rack planned for Utah

    Seattle -- Nordstrom plans to open a Nordstrom Rack at University Crossing in Orem, Utah.

    The approximately 30,000-sq.-ft. store is scheduled to open in spring 2015. University Crossing is owned and managed by University Crossing Shopping Center.
