  • Carlie C’s selects ADC for management software system

    Tampa, Fla. -- Applied Data Corp. said Wednesday that regional grocery chain Carlie C’s has selected ADC’s – a provider of fresh item management, recipe management, and scales management software – InterScale Scales Management Software system.
 


  • Starbucks profit up 12%; 1,300 stores on tap for 2013

    Seattle -- Starbucks Corp. said its profit rose in its first quarter as customers spent more at its stores in the United States and Asia.

    Starbucks earned $432.2 million in the quarter ended December 30, 2012, compared with $382.1 million in the year-ago period.

    Revenue rose 11% to $3.8 billion, slightly below expectations.

    The company reported that global same-store sales rose 6%. In Europe, the metric fell 1%. Americas’ comparable store sales grew 7%. Same-store sales in the China/Asia Pacific region grew 11%.

  • Report: Wal-Mart studying India investment conditions

    New Delhi -- According to a Thursday report by Reuters, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is examining the conditions around India’s decision to allow supermarkets to open stores in the country.

  • New GM named for Heritage Mall

    Albany, Ore. -- Vintage Real Estate announced said Wednesday it has appointed Betsy Penson as general manager of its recently acquired Heritage Mall, located in Albany, Ore.

    Most recently Penson was general manager/marketing director for CenterCal Properties’ Blackhawk Plaza in Danville, Calif. Earlier in her career she was the general manager and marketing director for a 400,000-sq.-ft. lifestyle center, The Streets of Tanasourne in Hillsboro, Ore., and the general manager of the Lancaster Mall in Salem, Ore.

  • Kate Hudson brings Hollywood style to Ann Taylor

    NEW YORK — Actress Kate Hudson is extending her relationship with Ann Taylor by developing a capsule collection for the fashion retailer. In addition, Hudson will return as ambassador of its spring and summer 2013 campaigns. 

  • Le Civette to open on Madison Avenue

    New York -- Douglas Elliman Real Estate's Retail Group said it has arranged for luxury sportswear brand Le Civette to anchor its first U.S. store at 1242 Madison Avenue, between 89th and 90th Streets.  

    The Italian-based retailer will locate its new store in the last available space along the block-front; neighbors include Jacadi, Mariana Antinori and Caramel Baby.

    James Cordero, senior director of Walmart’s Smart Network, is among four new appointees to the advisory board of the Digital Signage Expo.

  • Office Depot to open at Lincoln Square Shopping Center

    Arlington, Texas -- Transwestern announced Tuesday that it has negotiated a new 9,994-sq.-ft. lease for Office Depot at Lincoln Square Shopping Center, located in Arlington, Texas.

    The office supply retailer will open its smaller-footprint store – a 10,000-sq.-ft. prototype, downsized from the standard 20,000-sq.-ft. format.

    Lincoln Square Shopping Center is a lifestyle shopping and dining center in North Arlington’s Entertainment District.
