  • ‘Whole Foods for pets’ retailer expanding in Chicago

    New York -- The retailer whose customers often call it the “Whole Foods for pets” is expanding in the Chicago area as it looks to leverage what has become a $58 billion industry.

    Kriser's Natural Pet is bringing the natural pet movement to the west suburbs of Chicago with a grand opening in Naperville on Aug. 15-16. A second grand opening will take place in Northbrook on Aug. 29-30.

According to a new research study from Amazon.com and Pymnts.com titled “Innovation and the Digital Shopper,” 64% of respondents begin their shopping journey on online marketplaces.

  • Second time the charm for Neiman Marcus?

    New York -- The nation’s premier luxury department store company wants to return to the public arena.

    Neiman Marcus Group has filed plans for an initial public offering — for the second time in two years — of $100 million (the sum is a placeholder that doesn’t necessarily reflect the final offering amount.) The company said it would trade under the ticker symbol NMG.

  • Zumiez has a fizzling July

    Lynnwood, Wash. – Specialty sports retailer Zumiez Inc. had a fizzling July. Net sales decreased 2% to $61.4 million, from $62.8 million the same four-week period a year earlier. Same-store sales dropped 7.6%.

  • Tractor Supply Company overhauls online site with IBM

    Armonk, N.Y. -- IBM has partnered with Tractor Supply Company to revamp and migrate the retailer’s online operation to provide Tractor Supply customers with an easier way to connect, browse and shop for goods and services online.

    At the heart of the solution is a completely redesigned website for Tractor Supply that provides optimal viewing across all devices, easier integration with social media pages, and a simplified check-out process.

  • World Retail Congress to honor U.S. retailer

    New York -- Kip Tindell, founder, chairman and CEO of The Container Store, will be inducted into the Retail Hall of Fame at the upcoming World Retail Congress, which will be held Sept. 8-10, in Rome, Italy. Tindell is also the current chairman of the National Retail Federation.

    Minneapolis – Target Corp. is offering a limited-time promotion aimed at back-to-school shoppers that provides free shipping for all U.S. online orders. The promotion, which runs through Aug. 15, also includes free returns on all orders, with some restrictions on oversize items.
