8/5/2015

New York -- Kip Tindell, founder, chairman and CEO of The Container Store, will be inducted into the Retail Hall of Fame at the upcoming World Retail Congress, which will be held Sept. 8-10, in Rome, Italy. Tindell is also the current chairman of the National Retail Federation.

The Congress also named a U.S. Advisory Board, which is comprised of a diverse group from some of the nation’s leading retailers, university business programs and financial firms. The board will help shape the tone and direction of the global conferences.

With the theme, “Retail transformation today, tomorrow and beyond,” the 2015 World Retail Congress will examine today’s challenges, highlight some of the strategic solutions, and identify trends that will drive the future of retail.

Key speakers include Jonathan Alferness, global VP of shopping products, Google; Hayley Barna, co-founder, Birchbox; Jingming Li, general manager, Alipay U.S., Ant Financial Services Group; Stephen Zoll, VP, eBay Germany; Olaf Koch, CEO, Metro Group; and Kip Tindell, The Container Store.

“The Congress places global retail transformation at the very heart of all content, which will be reflected strongly in our conference program this year,” said Ian McGarrigle, chairman of The World Retail Congress. “As the meeting place for senior retail leaders from across the world and all retail sectors, our 2015 conference will include emerging, innovative and disruptive retail businesses from more than 60 countries.”

The World Retail Congress has also announced plans for a 2016 conference to take place in Dubai, on April 10 to 12.
