  • Starbucks in overhaul of popular loyalty program

    It’s not going to be so easy for the 11 million-plus active members of Starbuck Corp.’s loyalty program to earn freebies.

    Starting in mid-April, the coffee giant is making a change in its “My Starbucks Rewards” loyalty program whereby members will earn points, or “stars,” based on the dollars spent on the purchase. Currently, customers earn a star for each transaction, regardless of how much they spent, and are entitled to a free item after earning 12 stars.

    • Atwater South in Malvern, Pennsylvania; set to open fall 2016
    • The Franklin, 834 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; set to open early 2017

    Inspired by the hybrid café and retail concepts commonly found in Scandinavia, Blåbär features homeware and accessories from up and coming designers, vintage furniture and its own branded products all in a café environment serving Swedish foods and drinks.

  • Maryland’s newest resort experience MGM National Harbor names exclusive leasing agent

    National Harbor, Md. -- JLL announced that it has been retained by MGM Resorts International to lease the luxury retail promenade in its newest development, MGM National Harbor located in Prince George’s County, Maryland. MGM National Harbor will encompass 308 hotel rooms, a 125,000-sq.-ft. casino, 12 world-class food and beverage venues, a 27,000-sq.-ft. spa, a 3,000-seat theater and 18,000 sq. ft. of high-end luxury retail space expected to open in fourth quarter 2016.

    Honolulu -- The Howard Hughes Corp. marked another critical milestone for Ward Village located in Honolulu, Hawaii. The company broke ground on Ae‘o, a 466 unit mixed-use residential tower that will be anchored by a flagship Whole Foods Market.

  • New luxury retail project planned for Las Vegas

    The nation’s gambling capital is getting another high-end retail center, this one with Paris accents.

    Wynn Las Vegas announced the development of Wynn Plaza, a 75,518-sq.-ft. luxury retail center. Debuting fall 2017, the complex will support the existing luxury retail collection at Wynn Las Vegas and Encore, as well as bring the shopping experience to the high traffic area bordering Las Vegas Boulevard.

  • Foursquare will pick up the groceries

    Local discovery app Foursquare is the latest entity to join the increasingly crowded on-demand delivery market.

    Foursquare is partnering with Delivery.com to enable users to order groceries, food and alcohol directly through the Foursquare mobile app. The integration, facilitated by the mobile commerce platform Button, leverages Button's DeepLink Commerce technology to enable cross-functionality between the Delivery.com and Foursquare apps.
