  • Anaheim Town Square adds four new tenants, now 99% leased

    Anaheim, Calif. -- NewMark Merrill Cos. announced that Anaheim Town Square, in Anaheim, Calif., added four tenants to achieve 99% occupancy. The center’s four newest tenants are Staples, Yuva Threading Salon, Hawaiian King BBQ and Waba Grill.

    Staples, which opened in December 2011 located next to HomeTown Buffet, signed a 10-year lease for the approximately 17,500-sq.-ft. store.

    Yuva Threading Salon signed a five-year lease for an approximately 900-sq.-ft.

  • McDonald’s revenue, operating income up in Q4 and full year

    Oak Brook, Ill. -- McDonald’s Corp. reported Tuesday that consolidated revenues for fiscal 2011 rose 12% to a record-high $27 billion. The restaurant chain also said that global same-store sales increased 5.6% for the year ended Dec. 31, with positive comps across all geographic segments for every quarter.

    "During 2011, McDonald's continued momentum drove higher profitability and market share gains as we fortified our leadership position around the world," said McDonald's CEO Jim Skinner.

  • Swim U to open at Plantation Point

    Dallas -- Cypress Equities announced that Swim U has signed a lease to occupy 4,592 sq. ft. at Plantation Point Shopping Center, located in Raleigh, N.C.

    Swim U is a year-round indoor swim school for kids.

  • Drafthouse Cinema to open at One Loudoun

    McLean, Va. -- One Loudoun Holdings, a joint venture of Miller and Smith and North America Sekisui House, and its retail development partner, Potomac Development Group, announced that Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will open a new location at One Loudoun in Loudoun County, Va.

    The 34,000-sq.-ft. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will be the first in the
    Washington, D.C., market area. Construction will commence in spring 2012 with a projected opening in spring 2013.

  • Starbucks to sell alcohol in some locations

    New York City -- Starbucks Coffee Co. plans to sell beer, wine and more upscale food, including hot flatbreads and small plates, in a small number of its locations in Atlanta and Southern California by the end of this. The company previously announced the same plans for about half a dozen stores in Chicago.

    Currently, five stores in the Seattle area and one in Portland, Oregon, now feature the extended offerings.

  • Starbucks moving closer to opening stores in India

    New York City -- Starbucks Corp. is closing in on its retail deal with India’s Tata Coffee Ltd., which makes and exports instant coffee and plantation coffee, Reuters reported.

    Tata Coffee plans to open a Starbucks coffee shop by the end of this year, the report said.

  • Wingstop to open 14 new restaurants in Chicago

    Richardson, Texas -- Wingstop said Wednesday that it has signed two development agreements that will result in 14 new restaurants in the Chicago area.

    The multi-unit development agreements include a three-store deal with an existing franchise group and an 11-store deal with Chicagoland Wing Kings.

    “We expect to double our presence in the area over the next two to three years," said Bev Rich, senior director of franchise development, Wingstop.

    Wingstop currently has 19 restaurants in the Chicago area.
