  • Dickey’s Barbecue opening seven new locations

    Dallas — Dickey’s Barbecue will open seven new locations this week — in Kent, Wash.; Richland, Miss.; Vienna, Va.; Colorado Springs, Colo.; Clinton Township, Mich.; Yonkers, N.Y.; and Dallas.

    The fast-growing 391-unit restaurant chain has added more than 200 stores in the past two years. There are more than 150 stores in development.

     

  • Johnny Rockets opens new restaurant in Kuwait

    Aliso Viejo, Calif. -- Continuing its opening march through Kuwait, Johnny Rockets has opened a new restaurant at the Divonne Restaurant Complex in Kuwait City.

    Franchisee Haidar Al-Naqeeb is expanding the American chain in the Arabian Gulf; his first unit opened in December 1995 at Salem Al-Mabarak in Salmiyah, Kuwait.  Since that time, he's grown his portfolio to now include over a dozen franchises in Kuwait, as well as Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain with additional openings planned.

  • Papa John’s touts online ordering in TV ad

    Louisville, Ky. -- Papa John’s is launching a television commercial starring iconic sportscaster Jim Nantz, and Papa John’s founder, chairman and CEO, John Schnatter, touting the company’s online ordering platform. The commercial also reminds consumers that Papa John’s was the first national pizza company with online ordering at all of its U.S. delivery restaurants in 2001.

  • Ballpark Village in St. Louis signs three new tenants

    Baltimore — Jamba Juice, The Fudgery and Majestic Athletic have signed with Ballpark Village in St. Louis.

    Ballpark Village is a mixed-use retail, entertainment, office, and residential district being developed in partnership by the St. Louis Cardinals and The Cordish Companies.

  • McAlister’s plans 25 new franchise stores

    Alpharetta, Ga. -- McAlister's Deli has partnered with several lenders for franchise expansion nationwide. First Franchise Capital, Balboa Capital and Franchise America Finance have committed to financing new construction and remodels, as well as POS upgrades and equipment.

    In 2014, McAlister's will celebrate its 25th anniversary and expects to open 25 new restaurants in new and existing markets, including in Ohio, Texas, Pennsylvania, Wyoming, Arizona, New Mexico, Virginia and Florida, among others.

  • Cocina Mexicana to Manassas, Va., shopping center

    Manassas, Va. — Don Lencho Cocina Mexicana has opened at Manassas Shopping Center in Manassas, Va., next to Xtreme Archery. This is the third Washington, D.C., area restaurant owned by the husband and wife team of Juarez and Karen Barroso. The couple also owns Guajillo in Arlington, Va., and Casa Oaxaca in Adams Morgan in Washington, D.C.

    The Manassas Shopping Center retail store line-up includes Peebles, Hancock Fabrics, Advance Auto Parts, Tony’s New York Pizza and the Manassas School of Dance.

  • Starbucks to expand evening alcohol sales; plans Oprah chai tea

    Seattle – Starbucks reportedly plans to expand a pilot of an evening alcohol and “light bites” menu that includes wine to thousands of stores nationwide. According to Bloomberg, Starbucks executives said the evening food and drink offerings, currently provided in about 40 test stores, will be rolled out during the next several years.

  • Report: Chick-fil-A, Sonic earn top fast food customer rankings

    Waban, Mass. -- Chick-fil-A and Sonic Drive-In deliver the best customer experience in the fast food industry, according to the 2014 Temkin Experience Ratings, an annual ranking of companies based on a study of 10,000 U.S. consumers.
