First Look: DTC furniture brand Article makes U.S. store debut
A Canada-based, direct-to-consumer modern furniture brand has officially arrived in the United States.
Article opened its first-ever U.S. showroom on Aug. 17 in San Francisco’s Design District. The nearly 8,000-sq.-ft. store features curated room vignettes, complimentary design services and an extensive swatch library. Customers are able to shop for furniture in person and place orders in the store, with select decor and accent items also available for purchase.
Article said the showroom’s location near the San Francisco Design Center furniture marketplace was strategic to work closely with the city's “established design and trade community.”
The San Francisco showroom opening marks Article’s second location. The brand opened its Vancouver showroom in 2024. This fall, Article will open another U.S. store in Bellevue, Wash.

"We see physical retail as an extension of the business we built online and are approaching expansion with discipline," said Aamir Baig, co-founder and CEO of Article at the time of the U.S. expansion announcement. "The West Coast has always been core to our business and represents roughly a quarter of total purchases. It's where our company is headquartered and where we built early infrastructure to support customer demand. Expanding our retail footprint to California and Washington is a natural next step."
