E-commerce platform RedKangaroo rewards shoppers for social sharing

A new e-commerce marketplace incentivizes customers for promoting its brands on social media.

After completing a transaction on RedKangaroo, customers have the option to perform social media-based tasks, such as following the brand on Instagram or sharing a post about the product on TikTok. Once completed, shoppers can receive a variety of rewards, including discounts, special offers and unique experiences, as well as a new cashback option.

The cashback program offers shoppers specific monetary incentives for engaging in social media actions that promote the products and brands they have purchased. After completing a transaction, money will be shared back with them in their personal RedKangaroo digital wallet and can be applied to any subsequent purchase. 

If interested, participating sellers can offer special brand-specific vouchers that can be used only to purchase products from the brand. The wallet also contains the list of actions shoppers can complete through their social media accounts to earn cashback, as well as the amount they will receive for each task. 

All forms of cashback, referral bonuses (awarded by inviting friends to shop on the site), and discounts are available to users in their RedKangaroo wallet. To participate, customers can securely verify their social media accounts, without the need to share any passwords or personal information, in order to receive credit for completing the cashback tasks.

Social media actions can be completed on Instagram, TikTok and X, as well as through direct messages to friends and family. Each social media action is verified manually.

Retailers are increasingly trying to benefit from consumer activities on social media. For example, JCPenney is using Bazaarvoice technology to find customer-created visual content involving products it sells on social media, tag products and request rights to use the photos and videos on its site.

Founded in 2022, RedKangaroo offers products across categories including beauty, pet care and home goods, all at discounted prices.
