  • Fast-growing beauty retailer coming to nation’s largest mall

    Ulta Beauty is touching down at Mall of America.   The retailer will open an 11,000-sq.-ft. location at the mammoth shopping center, which is located in Bloomington, Minnesota, in fall 2017.    In addition to more than 20,000 products, Ulta Beauty will also feature an in-store offering a variety of hair, skin, and brow services.

  • Ulta Beauty to continue aggressive store expansion

    Ulta Beauty on Thursday reported a stellar fourth quarter that shows why many consider it one of the hottest retailers in the United States.      The beauty products retailer also said it would open approximately 100 net new stores in 2017, and remodel 13 locations.           Ulta Beauty’s net income for the quarter, ended Jan. 30, surged 30% to a better-than-expected $140.2 million, from $107.8 million in the year-ago period.  
  • Nordstrom Rack location set for Baltimore center

    Nordstrom Rack announced it would open its first Baltimore store at The Shops at Canton Crossing in spring 2019. It will be part of the center’s 90,000-sq.-ft. Phase II addition, which is expected to begin construction in November.  
  • Ulta, Sephora rival taps consulting, retail veteran as new CEO

    The baton has been passed at Beauty Brands as it looks to enter its “next phase of growth.”   The Kansas City-based retailer has named Caryn Lerner as CEO, succeeding Lyn Kirby, who will remain chairman. Kirby is part of the group that bought Beauty Brands in 2014 from founder Bob Bernstein. Since then, she has served as CEO and chairman of the company, reportedly commuting between Chicago and Kansas City.  Prior to Beauty Brands, Kirby served as CEO of Ulta Beauty.   
  • Nordstrom Rack doubles down on Manhattan

    Nordstrom announced the second Big Apple location for its off-price division.   Nordstrom Rack will open at Durst Organization's mixed-use building at 855 Sixth Avenue.    The approximately 46,500-sq.-ft. store is scheduled to open in fall 2017. It occupy the first three floors of the newly constructed office/residential tower. The location is on the corner of 31st Street, two blocks from Herald Square.  
  • Ulta Beauty is one hot retail property

    There is no denying it: Ulta Salon Cosmetics & Fragrance is on a roll.   The retailer will open 100 stores this year, including its first-ever location in Manhattan.   Shares of Ulta rose 38% last year, about four times higher than the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index’s gain, Bloomberg reported, and its annual revenue has quadrupled to $3.9 billion since it went public 10 years ago.
