  • Off-price a winner for Hudson's Bay Company

    Saks Off 5th helped its parent, Hudson’s Bay Co., increase same store sales in the first quarter, although the company did report a larger loss.

    HBC reported that for the first quarter ended May 2, same store sales increased 2.7%. The company posted a loss of $44 million, compared with a profit of C$176 million, or 97 Canadian cents, a year earlier. Adjusted to exclude restructuring and other items, the loss was C$33 million, up from a comparable C$27 million loss a year earlier. Sales rose 11.7 percent to C$2.07 billion.

  • Lands' End adds Saks, J.Crew vets to exec team

    Lands' End is adding two highly regarded retail veterans to an executive team led by newly appointed CEO Federica Marchionni.

    The company announced that Joseph Boitano is bringing his more than 30 years of retail and wholesale experience to a new role at Lands' End as executive vice president, chief merchandising and design officer and will lead all aspects of merchandising and design.

  • Lands’ End names execs from Saks and J. Crew to its executive team

    Dodgeville, Wis. -- Lands' End announced the appointments of two retail veterans to its executive team which is led by newly appointed CEO Federica Marchionni.

    Joseph Boitano, most recently group senior VP and general merchandise manager for Saks Fifth Avenue, has been named Lands’ End executive VP, chief merchandising and design officer.

  • Saks Off 5th to enter Delaware

    New York -- Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th will open a store at Christiana Fashion Center in Christiana, Delaware, in October. The 32,000 –sq.-ft. store will be the off-price retailer’s first in the state of Delaware.

  • Cuban ballet coming to Saks windows in NYC

    Saks Fifth Avenue will be soaring to new heights with an unprecedented promotional event at its flagship store in New York City this month.

    Sixteen dancers from the Sarasota Cuban Ballet School in Florida will be performing live in the windows of the store on Fifth Avenue on June 6 and June 7.

  • Saks’ Off 5th to open first downtown store, in San Francisco

    New York -- Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th will open its first metro downtown store, on Market Street in downtown San Francisco. The new 40,500-sq.-ft. store will celebrate its grand opening on May 28.

    “This store is the first Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th store in a city center, and we believe San Francisco is an ideal location as we begin to expand into metropolitan markets,” said Jonathan Greller, president of outlets, Hudson’s Bay Company, parent company of Saks.
     

  • Saks OFF 5th targets urban centers

    Saks Fifth Avenue is expanding its off-price business to major urban centers with a new OFF 5th store opening in downtown San Francisco.

    The new 40,500 square foot store features an assortment of more than 800 brands from top designers to emerging labels, with fashion and accessories for women and men arriving weekly.
