  • Smashburger to open first Jacksonville location at Seminole Shoppes

    Neptune Beach, Fla. -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said it has leased restaurant space in Neptune Beach, Fla., at Seminole Shoppes to Smashburger.

    Smashburger has leased 2,100 sq. ft., bringing the center to 96% leased. The restaurant is slated to open for business in fall 2011 and is the first store location for the franchise chain in the Jacksonville area.

    The 78,240-sq.-ft. shopping center is anchored by Publix Super Market.

    Boulder, Col. -- Discount grocer Aldi ranks as the nation’s low-price grocery leader, according to a recent consumer survey conducted by Market Force Information.

  • Publix to close all 40 Little Clinic in-store units

    St. Petersburg, Fla. -- Publix Super Markets said Tuesday it is closing all 40 of its Little Clinics – in-store mini-clinics offering minor medical treatments – after five years in operation.

    According to an item in the St. Petersburg Times, 10 of the 12 locations in the Tampa Bay area have closed, and the remainder will be closed on yet-to-be-determined dates.

  • Publix ends partnership with The Little Clinic

    LAKELAND, Fla. — Supermarket chain Publix has confirmed the termination of the lease arrangements with The Little Clinic within select store locations in Florida and Georgia.

    The move marks the end of Publix’s five-year partnership with The Little Clinic, which is part of Solera Capital’s portfolio. Solera Capital had acquired The Little Clinic’s predecessor in 2005.

  • Terranova and Freshberry ink third long-term deal

    Miami Beach, Fla. -- Terranova Corp. announced that self-serve frozen yogurt concept FreshBerry has signed on to a long- term deal for an 1,800-sq.-ft. space in El Mercado Shopping Center, in Hialeah, Fla.

    El Mercado is a Publix-anchored center with additional tenants such as Anna’s Linens, GNC and Pollo Tropical.

    FreshBerry has also signed on to join Parkhill Plaza, in Miami, in a long term 1,600-sq.-ft. deal. Parkhill Plaza is a Winn-Dixie-anchored center.

  • Publix to sell Crispers chain

    Lakeland, Fla. -- Publix Super Markets said that it has reached a deal to sell the Crispers restaurant chain to Healthy Food Concepts, an affiliate of the Miami-based investment group Boyne Capital Partners. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

    Crispers is a fast-casual restaurant chain serving soup, salads and sandwiches with 36 locations in Florida.
     

  • Publix sells Crispers business

    LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix Super Markets announced that it has entered into a contract to sell Crispers, the fresh salads, soups and sandwiches restaurant company it purchased in February 2007, to Healthy Food Concepts, LLC, an affiliate of a Florida-based investment group.

  • Publix Q1 delivers higher stock price

    LAKELAND, Fla. -- Strong earnings and sales growth in the first quarter helped drive up Publix's stock price.

    Publix’s sales for the first quarter of 2011 were $6.8 billion, a 4.4% increase from last year’s $6.5 billion. Comparable-store sales for the first quarter of 2011 increased 2.8%.

    Net earnings for the first quarter of 2011 were $398.2 million, compared with $364.4 million in 2010, an increase of 9.3%. Earnings per share for the first quarter increased to 51 cents for 2011, up from 47 cents per share in 2010.
