Publix expands data warehouse

Lakeland, Fla. Publix Supermarkets is expanding its enterprise data warehouse to accommodate the company’s growth and more complex analytical needs. The grocery chain is expanding its existing Active Enterprise Data Warehouse platform, from Miamisburg, Ohio-based Teradata, with new nodes that will support more robust data-mining software.

Besides providing more insight into operational detail, the upgrade will enable Publix to more rapidly analyze and interpret sales trends, optimize supply and demand chains, and make informed buying decisions. By augmenting its existing platform, the grocer is protecting its original technology investment.
