  • Sleep Innovations acquired by Sun Capital Partners affiliate

    WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. — Sleep Innovations, designer and manufacturer of memory foam products, has been acquired by an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners. The private investment firm specializes in leveraged buyouts and investments in market-leading companies.

  • Stage Stores names interim chief Glazer as permanent CEO

    Houston - Stage Stores said Thursday it has made Michael Glazer’s role as interim president and CEO a permanent one.

    Glazer, a board member for the chain, was named interim chief following Andy Hall’s resignation in March.

    According to Stage chairman William Montgoris, Glazer’s familiarity with the company’s growth and expansion strategy helped him secure the permanent role. “It became clear the company and its shareholders would be best served by making his appointment permanent," Montgoris said.

    HOUSTON — Stage Stores announced Michael Glazer has been appointed to the position of president and CEO on an interim basis. Glazer replaces the company’s former president and CEO, Andy Hall, who the company announced has resigned from both the company and its board of directors to pursue other interests.

  • Stage Stores CEO resigns

    Houston -- Stage Stores said Thursday that its president and CEO Andy Hall has resigned to pursue other interests, and will be replaced in the interim by Michael Glazer, a member of the company's board since 2001.

    Glazer is currently the president and CEO at Mattress Giant Corp., based in Addison, Texas. He previously served as managing director of Team Neu, a private equity firm, and he was also president and CEO of KB Toys Inc.

    Stage Stores said it has already begun the search for a permanent CEO and the candidates will include Glazer.

  • Sleep retail vet named Mattress Giant exec

    Specialty retailer Mattress Giant named industry veteran Mike Bookbinder as its new EVP merchandising and marketing. Bookbinder’s name is familiar to those in the world of sleep-related retail, as he spent 11 years with the New York-based Sleepy’s chain where he held various roles including EVP of sales and marketing. He also served as president of City Mattress in upstate New York and most recently was with mattress manufacturer King Koil where he served in a new business development role as SVP sales.

  • Tilden Ridge Shopping Center

    A 400,000-sq.-ft., Wal-Mart Supercenter- and Lowe’s-anchored, regional shopping center opened on March 15 in Hamburg, Pa.

    Tilden Ridge Shopping Center, owned by West Conshohocken, Pa.-based Ironwood Property Group and leased by Metro Commercial Real Estate, was almost six years in the making, and features a site that shares a traffic signal with a 250,000-sq.-ft. Cabela’s store.
