Mattress Giant Buys Local Competitor

Tampa, Fla. Mattress Giant has tripled its presence in the Tampa Bay area with the acquisition of Clearwater Mattress Co.

Mattress Giant bought the 76-year-old Largo, Fla.-based manufacturer and retailer with 21 locations in Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, Hernando and Manatee counties, adding to its existing 10 stores in the Tampa Bay area.

Signage on the Clearwater Mattress stores will be changed to reflect the new ownership by Jan. 15.

In addition, Mattress Giant is remodeling the Clearwater Mattress stores, modifying the locations to match the in-store formats and shopper experience currently executed at all Mattress Giant stores.
