  • Lowe’s under on profit, over on revenue in Q2; plans 15-20 new stores

    Mooresville, N.C. – Lowe’s Companies Inc. missed Wall Street expectations for profit but beat the Street with revenue in a mixed second quarter of fiscal 2015. Net earnings totaled $1.13 billion, up 8% from $1.04 billion the same quarter a year earlier.

    Lowe’s achieved its lower-than-expected profit increase by limiting growth of costs and expenses while beating expectations with net sales of $17.35 billion, up 4% from $16.6 billion. Same-store sales increased 4.3%.

  • J.D. Power: Lowe's is No. 1 appliance retailer

    Lowe's is doing all the right things when it comes to customer satisfaction, according to J.D. Power's 2015 Appliance Retailer Satisfaction Study.

    The study, now in its eighth year, measures customer satisfaction with appliance retailers by examining seven factors (in order of importance): sales staff and service; store facility; price; delivery service; sales and promotions (new to the study); merchandise; and installation service. Satisfaction is measured on a 1,000-point scale.

  • Lowe’s promotes treasurer

    Mooresville, N.C. – Lowe's Companies Inc. has promoted Tiffany L. Mason to senior VP of corporate finance and treasurer. Mason will continue to report to CFO Robert F. Hull Jr.

    In her expanded role, Mason is taking on responsibility for financial planning and analysis, while she retains responsibility for the investor relations and treasury functions. Mason has nearly 20 years of experience in accounting and corporate finance across various industries, including technology, manufacturing, banking and retail.  

  • Amazon, Publix, Whole Foods have best reputations

    Boston - For the third year in a row, Amazon claims the top spot in Reputation Institute’s annual survey of America’s top 50 most reputable companies in the retail industry. Amazon is the only company of all the retail companies surveyed to achieve an excellent reputation.

    Supermarket chains moved up in the ranking this year, with Publix ranking second and Whole Foods jumping five spots to third place in 2015.

  • Urban Outfitters misses on profit, sales in Q1

    Philadelphia – Urban Outfitters Inc. missed Wall Street expectations for net income, sales and same-store sales during the first quarter of fiscal 2015. Net income fell 12% to $32.78 millio,n from $37.48 million the same quarter a year earlier.

    Lower margins and higher delivery and fulfillment expense helped drive down net income. Sales reached a record high of $739 million, up 8% from $686.31 million, but still fell short of Wall Street expectations. Same-store sales rose 4%.
