  • Ace is the place with the coolest hardware stores

    Home Depot and Lowe’s have nothing on four Ace Hardware operators who were recipients of the retail cooperative’s annual “Coolest Hardware Stores’” awards.

    The award is quite a distinction considering there are roughly 4,800 Ace Hardware stores worldwide. This year’s honorees included Henkle’s Ace Hardware (Webb City, Mo.), Islands Ace Hardware (Savannah, Ga.), Miner’s Ace Hardware (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) and Rocking R Ace Hardware (Harrisonburg, Va.).

  • Amazon, Publix, Whole Foods have best reputations

    Boston - For the third year in a row, Amazon claims the top spot in Reputation Institute’s annual survey of America’s top 50 most reputable companies in the retail industry. Amazon is the only company of all the retail companies surveyed to achieve an excellent reputation.

    Supermarket chains moved up in the ranking this year, with Publix ranking second and Whole Foods jumping five spots to third place in 2015.

  • Home Depot wants shoppers to be storm-ready

    With hurricane season fast approaching, the Home Depot wants to encourage residents to shop its stores for storm-related gear by hosting nearly 700 storm workshops on May 30 from Texas to Maine.

  • Home Depot hosts hurricane workshops May 30

    Atlanta - The Home Depot Inc. will host its third annual Hurricane Preparedness Workshops on May 30. The one-day event, held in nearly 700 stores from the Gulf Coast to New England, will help prepare residents in storm-prone regions ahead of hurricane season, which begins June 1.

    The free workshops will be held 10-11:30 a.m. local time and cover storm readiness topics including understanding hurricane alerts and categories, creating a storm survival kit, choosing a generator, weathering a hurricane safely and repairing a home after a storm has passed.

  • Alibaba overtakes Amazon as ‘most valuable’ global retail brand

    London -- The most valuable retail brand in the world lacks physical stores. At least that’s according to the tenth annual BrandZTM Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands ranking, released by WPP and Millward Brown. Chinese online giant Alibaba took the top spot of the retail, with a brand value of $66.4 billion, overtaking Amazon, at $62.3 billion.

  • Survey: Chick-fil-A nabs second place in customer service

    Waban, Mass. - Chick-fil-A took the second spot in the annual Temkin Customer Service Ratings, tops among all retailers and food service chains. Other retailers and food service companies in the top 12 include Aldi, Trader Joe's, Publix, Panera Bread, H-E-B, Amazon.com, and Bed Bath & Beyond.

    Supermarkets, retailers, and banks, as an industry, earned average ratings of "strong.” Retailers RadioShack and Sears were ranked at least 15 points below retail industry average.
