  • Kmart, Best Buy lift St. Jude's campaign

    Kmart and Best Buy are among the retailers that helped St. Jude’s Hospital raise more than $100 million for the second year in a row.

    Kmart led all fundraising for St. Jude’s once again at $17.5 million, bringing its grand total to date to $76 million. Best Buy saw its campaign increase from nearly $1 million in 2013 to $9.7 million.

  • Brooks Brothers expands cloud-based supply chain with GT Nexus

    New York - Brooks Brothers has expanded its cloud supply chain strategy using the GT Nexus platform. Since 2007, the retailer has used GT Nexus for procurement and settlement processes, and now will leverage that same data and connectivity to extend supply chain visibility, support international growth and reduce costs.

  • Brooks Brothers arranges $250 million TD Bank credit facility

    New York – Brooks Brothers Group Inc. has selected the Asset Based Lending (ABL) Group of TD Bank as the joint lead arranger in a $250 million credit facility. The amount of TD’s commitment and terms of the financing were not disclosed.

  • J. Crew tops in online customer service

    New York — J. Crew provided the best overall online customer service in October, marking the retailer’s third time topping the Stella Benchmarks rankings from StellaService in 2014. The retailer ranked 4th in phone, second in email, eighth in shipping and 17th in returns.
      Stella Benchmarks includes 138 companies evaluated on a daily basis by StellaService. Customer care channels, phone, email and chat, are measured daily, while fulfillment metrics are measured across multiple orders each month.

    Unless you are a grandstanding politician, the notion of American apparel production may feel like it was declared dead years ago. Our share of domestically manufactured apparel has dropped from 50% in 1994 to 2.5% in 2012, and this trend shows little sign of reversing on a macro level.  
  • The Shade Store to open at Parker Harding Plaza

    Westport, Conn. -- Charter Realty & Development said that it has leased space in Parker Harding Plaza in Westport, Conn., to The Shade Store. The Shade Store took 1,600 sq. ft., joining area tenants Patagonia, Nike, J Crew, GAP, Vineyard Vines, Pottery Barn, Coach, Talbots, Williams-Sonoma, Brooks Brothers, Sunglass Hut, Starbucks and many more.

In a presentation and also in an exclusive one-on-one interview with Chain Store Age at the recent SAP Retail Forum in New York, Sahal S. Laher, executive VP/global CIO of Brooks Brothers, explained how the retailer is becoming a more customer-focused organization.  
  • RKF arranges New York leases with Bluemercury, Brora

    New York - RKF has arranged two leases totaling 2,680-sq.-ft. at 1200 Madison Ave. on the Upper East Side of Manhattan with beauty retailer Bluemercury and upscale Scotland-based knitwear company Brora. The new Bluemercury, scheduled to the week of Oct. 6, will occupy 1,705-sq.-ft. and will be the brand’s second location on the Upper East Side.
